Question about Genie Garage Door. SilentMax 1000 3/4 HP Comparable Belt Drive Garage

1 Answer

I just installed a new Genie Silentmax 1000. The wall switch works. The up and down settings are right. The safety doors sensors are working. My problem now is that I can't get the remotes or the key pad to program to the opener. Any ideas?

can you change the toggle switches in the remote and door controller to a different code than it is set on now. Like the two devices must match but hopefully the neighbor code for their door will then be different. Also can you change the frequency ?

Wall button worked for awhile, now will not. Have tried a replacement, it does not work either. hat can I check?

Touch the pair of wires that go directly back to the garage door opener together. If the garage door closes, than the wall switch is the problem. If the garage does not close when the two wires are touched together, than the problem is with the garage door opener. Please check to make sure that the opener is plugged-in and getting power to it also.

Garage door opener not working

Sensor must show steady light to close circuit and let opener work. If aligned, then there is a loose or broken wire. Try reaiming first to get steady light. Then check all wires . Another way to test and prove that is the issue is if u hold down the wired button at ur back door and the opener closes, then it is sensor issue. Good luck.

Garage doors opens on its own, after being close for hours

Someone in your neighborhood may have the same garage door opener that you have and sharing the same code. Change your garage door opener code or buy a Genie Code Scrambler.

Entry pad quit working on my Genie Excelerator model #H8000D. Changed batteries. Can this be reprogramed or should I purchase a new one?

The relay on the "unit's" circuit board was causing my light to stay on. If I tapped the unit with a stick the vibration would be enough for the contacts in the relay to open allowing the light in the unit to go out. Call The Genie company; the H8000D Genie garage door opener has a lifetime warranty but only if you are the original owner of your home. If you are the original owner you'll need to have a receipt for proof of purchase. If you don't have the receipt then a copy of your HUD-1 form that you received at closing when you passed papers on your home will be accepted as proof of (original ownership of your home). I have had my Genie H8000D for 12+ years now and so far I have replaced the black indoor wall switch, the out door mounted remote control and both internal circuit boards. After removing both old boards I found that the solder on both ends of one "blueish in color" resistor had come loose from the board because he solder failed. I installed the new replacement boards Genie sent me and the unit works as is should. On the old board the resister didn't look bad so I soldered it back onto the board and I'll keep it for a back up.

This is the close limit sensor so yes it should work. They have them for $2.40 right now from an Amazon vendor - http://www.amazon.com/Genie-Excelerator-Close-Switch-33950S/dp/B00283OBXY/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A1CTO3U79X1RZ3

You can also buy replacement sensors as a 10 pack in case you end up needing more from here -

Have to hold the button untill door is all the way down

The sensors are required as a part of a safety system. If they are not installed, then the down function can be overridden by holding the button down. Holding it down assumes you are watching the door and no one will be trapped underneath it.

Buy and install sensors, and the door will work correctly.
