SOURCE: 2004 arctic cat 500 4x4 starter turns doesnt engage starts with pull cord

1. Never jump start an ATV, Motorcycle, UTV..etc from a automobile! The amperage is TOO high, you can damage a lot of expensive electrical components!! ..very quickly!
You cannot home trouble shoot without a new battery or fully charged battery with good solid clean connections!!
2. Have the battery tested or simply buy a GOOD new one!
3. Does the starter spin at all? Is there a clicking noise when you push the start button? No - solenoid is bad(?) . you can check this by jumping the two large connectors on the solenoid... A good screwdriver works well...(CAREFUL - SPARKS WILL FLY!) If the starter works while jumping, the solenoid is bad - just replace it (disconnect battery while replacing).
4. If the start spins while "jumping" and nothing happens the starter may need rebuilding if the new battery/fully charged battery/jumping solenoid does not expose/solve the problem.
Do this and repost.

1998 arctic cat 300..... hard to shift you have to

I do not know much if anything about an arctic cat but if you have a shifter you have some kind of a transmission and if you need to get it into gear or neutral but cannot do so without rocking the machine or the shifter back and forth a slipping clutch would not likely have anything to do with the problem. You likely should not be trying to shift gears with the clutch engaged and the clutch normally should be FULLY slipping ie completely disengaged when you are shifting. It sounds like you could have sticking shifter linkage parts, worn shifter parts or internal transmission parts, bent shifter forks, worn shifter cam or drum grooves or shifter fork pins or other worn parts or maybe even low or no transmission fluid.

Has trouble shifting into reverse

LInkage may be out of adjustment. To check, put in forward position, loosen shifting rod jamb nuts then turn the rod until you have just a touch of play. This will allow the reverse to be completely ingaged when shifted.

Foward/reverse linkage adjustment

Most of the time people over tighten the shifter linkage.I have found that if you leave just a hair slack in the rod while in the forward position it will shift fine.
