GE washer wcvh6600 not filling with cold water

When its supposed to be filling it hums for a few minutes. It seems that after some time, the hot water is coming in to start the cycle but when its time for rinse it just hums and cold water never comes in. I have checked the water flow to the washer and the screens at the inlets which are both clean. I have tried to put the machine in test mode but have not been able to. Its is a bad water supply valve?

SOURCE: GE Washing machine cold water barely dribbles in

well the first thing i would do is take the cold line loose from the washer get a large bucket and open the cold line with the hose off and see what kind of pressure there is if very little need a plumber or in crese your well pump pressure check your screen while you have the hose off if all of this is ok id replace the washer water valves

shut off the water valve, disconnect the hot water hose from the back of the washer, then turn on the water valve to make sure it's not the house water valve first before you start messing with the washer,if the hot water is working correctly then you could have a bad water valve on the washer.let me know what you find

SOURCE: I have a Miele W1918 washer which has worked

I have exactly the same problem. I am currently getting around the issue by letting the machine do the washing then at the end of that cycle do a manual rinse cycle.

SOURCE: Washer fills with hot water on cold wash or rinse.

typically hot is on the left and cold is on the right at the house faucets but in some cases they are reversed so if filling with a cold setting and the right side supply is hot the plumber reversed the lines when the house was built which while its semi rare has been seen numberous times

I have a GE HydroHeater front loading washer and it wont fill with water

First make sure water supply is on. Next try just cold OR hot water fill and feel the hose where it connects to the washer. Do you feel a faint buzzing or humming? If yes, you may have a clog in the line. If not, check that power is good to maxhine. If power is good, then control board is suspect and needs to be tested.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

If you hear a hum check the cold water inlet screen . If no hum check the valve or try hot water . If works replace fill valve.

Check the cold water hose. My brand new machine had this behavior until I discovered a kink in the cold water hose - works great now.

Washer won't fill with hot water

If you hear a humming, the coil on the water valve is probably OK. On warm, you are getting cold fill only. (hot + cold = warm) Take the hot water supply hose off the machine and look inside where the hose attached to the washer. There should be a screen inside. Remove it and clean it out. Also, check both ends of the supply hose, as sometimes you will find a screened washer in there too.
