Your video cable is not connected correctly to your TV, or the AV cord has come loose from the back of your Wii.

How do you bypass the wii update to play the gmaes

The simplest thing to do is to use StartPatch, if your Wii is running System Menu 4 or higher, or StarFall if you're running System Menu 3.2. (To check your system menu version, go to you Wii Settings; the version number will be on the upper right.)
These applications can apply various modifications to your Wii, including one that will allow you to play import games and another that turns off the annoyingly repetitive system menu background music. There is also a modification that prevents the Wii from checking to see whether a game disk includes a system update. If you use StartPatch/StarFall to install this modification, you will no longer have game disks insisting on updating before you can play them.
It should be noted that these applications, since they rewrite your system flash memory, can be considered somewhat dangerous.

You can play it safer with Gecko OS, which lets you play import and update-insistent games without altering flash memory. It has been found that at least one game, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Gecko fails on.

Display problems while playing Virtual Console games

If you are experiencing display issues (dim, blank or half-blank screen, ghosted image, etc.) with a Virtual Console game while using the Component Video Cable, please read the following:
Some Virtual Console games default to displaying 240 lines of video. Some HD TV's are unable to display a signal with only 240 lines. Try the steps below to set the Wii to output 480 lines of video, which may solve the problem:
  1. While on the Wii Channel Menu (main screen of the Wii), connect a Nunchuk to Wii Remote.
  2. Select the Virtual Console game from the Wii menu, then select "Start" to begin the game.
  3. When the game starts, press the Home button on the Wii Remote. (In many games, the music can be heard when the game starts.)
  4. Select "Operations Manual" from the Home menu.
  5. Press the Z + A + 2 Button simultaneously (the Z Button is on the Nunchuk). A sound will be heard if the button combination has been entered correctly.
  6. Close the Home menu. The game should now display correctly. Note: You will not have to do this the next time you play, as the Wii console will remember these settings.
If the Virtual Console game is still not displaying properly, but all other games work fine, please call 1-800-255-3700 so that we may assist you further.

When I turn the Wii on it makes no sound

Check to see if the audio cables from the Wii to the TV might have come loose or unplugged.

If you have a friend with a Wii, see if their cable connecting the Wii to the TV works. Your cable might have gone bad.

How do i listen to music

I seen someone doing it through the photo channel, although I've not tried it. Load your MP3s onto an SD card, with at least one photo. Open the photo channel and start a slideshow, pause it and select to change the music, the new menu will allow you to select the MP3 you want.
Otherwise you can stream music through the internet browser via a flash based website, like youtube. There's also "Media Centers" that you run from you PC, and the Wii uses the internet browser to play them.

Sound on wii fit game

I have sound on my TV for normal operation when the FIT is in use and some vibration, sound effects, and comments during certain activities/games. You should hear speech (i.e yoga) or music and sound effects (i.e. balance games) throughout the session. If you hear sounds when your WII is on the channel screen it should work during a WII Fit session. Check the Nintendo Forums or contact Nintendo to see what may be defective.

Wii black screen

The following fix should help users who do have problems with some virtual console games for the Nintendo Wii that display only a black screen after starting them while the sound remains normal. This does not work in all occasions but should work if you get the Wii menu when you press Home and works only for games that received an update for the interlaced mode.
Try out the following to see if this fixes the issue. Start the game normally until you see the black screen. Connect the Nunchuck to the Wiimote and press Home to see the menu options. Now press A + 2 + Z together which should result in a short “ping-like” sound.
This should have activated the interlaced mode. Leave the menu and you should see the normal game screen and not the black screen anymore. To change the mode again press A + 1 + Z using the same method as above
