SOURCE: how to remove back for battery replacement - 19

This is a little tricky, I think this has a screw on back. It takes a two or better a three prong tool to remove back. A new seal shoud be on hand to replace this. Watch should have a consumption test and a min run voltage test, if either of these fail a new circuit board or movement should be installed. Take it to a good watchmaker and they will clean the outside before opening and do a water resistance test after assembly.

SOURCE: How to remove back cover and change

Not sure which Seiko this is. If it does not have a snap back case the it is a screw on case back. A special wrench is needed to unscrew it. If you don't have a case back wrench you will either need to buy one (the good ones that won't damage your watch are about $50 US) or take your watch in and have the battery changed.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I need to change the

some watches have a notch that comes out where you can get a knife, or exacto blade underneath to pop it open. if not, there may be multiple intends along the ridge that would require a special tool to twist open. any jewler could change the battery for you. also, batteries plus stores can change the battery out at a reasonable price.

S149 will not start

You may need to reset it. Unfortunately, this can not be done without taking the unit apart. I fixed ours yesterday when the screen was blank, by replacing the internal battery. Part of that process is resetting the clock.

This might solve your problem and so, I have included my full instructions for replacing the battery.

You will need a small phillips screw driver, a paperclip and a new battery. ( a CR2032 works fine and can be bought anywhere)
Keep in mind, you will be handling some electronics, so keeping static discharges to a minimum is a good idea.
*Place the unit face down on a table.
*Remove the battery cover and batteries.
*Using tape, cover the two switch sliders located on the sides of the unit so they stay in place when you remove the back.
*Remove the three screws inside the battery bay and the four longer screws on the main body.
*Before you gently seperate the back from the front, take note of the two battery connections that are on the outer edge of the battery box and are opposite of the strap brackets. These will need to be coaxed through the plastic as you pull the back off. You will also need to manipulate/open the paper roll cover.
*Remove the back cover.
*The top circuit board and printer are connected to the lower circuit board and front cover by a white ribbon cable and wires to a switch. Gently lay the top circuit board and printer to the side, being careful not to unlpug the cables.
*Locate the battery, it is standing on edge. Note the orientation.
*Straighten the paperclip and make a hook so you can remove the battery.
*Install the new battery, taking care to not bend the connectors.
*A label on the inside of the back cover details the reset procedure. Locate the AC and + on the lower circuit board.
*Use the paperclip to make an electrical connection between those two points.
*Reassemble the unit in reverse fashion.
*Pay attention to the switches on the top circuit board and the slots they fit into. These are the black switch sliders that were taped to the side.
*The printer assembly should set into place.
*Reinstall the back cover, coaxing the battery connections through their respective holes.

I hope this solves your problem.

Blank screen with a line. Why?

I have the same, assume the watch battery is gone. Handbook says the whole timer has to go to a dealer to replace the battery.. the printer batteries are easily replacable, I wonder why they made the watch battery such a costly deal?

Seiko Stop Watch S149 Stop watch has new batteries in and they are put in correctly but nothing shows up on the screen. The paper feeder works so it is getting power.

If you go to "www.sportscounters.com/seiko-s149-stopwatch-printer-all-in-one" you will see a telephone number, try calling them for advice.

(This problem is fairly common after replacing batteries, so I suspect that there is a procedure for resetting the timer.)
