There are two clips on the side make sure there pull right out and the filter is push right down fit the top on and bang the side clips back in some are hard to clip back in I have to bang mine back in x

I can't get the filter to stay in after cleaning

DC59 Motorhead's pre-filter is engineered to easy to remove for its monthly wash, but should also stay in place securely once it's replaced. In use, the filter will be held in place by the vacuum's powerful suction. When carrying the vacuum from room to room, we'd recommend keeping the machine horizontal, and to avoid carrying it upside down or vertically. It's also worth checking that the black rubber seal itself is clean and correctly positioned.

Dust goes to filter


is the canister sealing properly? The air enters the canister under high pressure and it should slow down greatly in there so the heavier (dust) particles will fall to the bottom of the canister and the air should then pass through the filter under a reduced pressure. If the air is easily escaping the canister area without slowing down the dust cannot settle. It should look like a cyclone in the canister, if it's not swirling in one direction but rather bouncing around, look at the inlet to the canister for build up or an obstruction also. If the canister is not sealing the the air will remain moving rapidly and carry the dust along with it. I would also check your filter for a tare along the seam.

How long have you had it? Most of them carry a 5-year warranty! Does yours fall in this category?

The cannister won't stay/lock in place


there should be a release for the dirt cup at the top.make sure it in all the way and snapped shut

Carpet power head will not stay attached to telescoping wand


to answer your last statement, if you do not have a receipt, the warranty will go by the date ofyour serial number. the first 4 digits are the month and year. this model usually has a 1 year wty. the wand button may not be protruding as far due to dirt under the metal band. however you may still have an issue with the neck on the powerhead which will require shop service.

Floormate stopped sucking up water as well as it used to


Don't know how much dirt has accumulated in the recovery system, but mine was amazing for no more than we use it. The front of the head detaches and you can clearly see where the solution is being vacuumed into. A thin rectangular channel then carries the fluid to a corrugated hose in the back of the head. This channel accumulates a lot of junk too. By removing the recovery tank, you can see where the corrugated tube transfers fluid into another narrow channel which carries it vertically to the top of the recovery tank. The small section of hose seems to be the only thing that stays clean and doesn't limit flow and vacuum. The filter at the top of the tank, which keeps fluid out of the vacuum motor can also get plugged with dirt. Hope this helps.

Remove the cap for the flow indicator, then there 6 screws to remove to take off the top, before removing the top, turn the smart mix valve to about the half way point so the piston won't fall off. When you are ready to re-install the top cover, just before pushing it all of the way down, turn the smart mix valve to the water only setting, then push it into place, re-install the screws and the flow indicator parts.

Check the air filter which is at the air output (blower) part of the canister, under the part where the attachments are stored. Also, I know how to disassemble, but the air filter is the likely problem.
