Switched on the power and presses the on button on the computer. There was a really loud bang/crack and now the computer does not work. Checked the fuse in the plug and that is working properly?

I would say purchase another tablet. It is most likely not worth repairing. I would get a Samsung A8 or a Lenovo 10 in tablet. The Amazon Fire 10 gives you good bang for the buck. In the future I would avoid RCA tablets. Their quality seems to be lacking. If you really want to get a tablet that will be good for the long term, get an Ipad. The base model is 330 and will last you for years.
Hey there! Because of your particular situation, you may have to perform a hard reset, as it seems the update process didn't complete successfully, leaving your tablet with a corrupt operating system. Before attempting this, please have the tablet charged up all the way so that the reset can complete fully without interruptions.

Power off your Lenovo tablet after forgot password. 2. Press Volume UP + Power button on the tablet. In the recovery menu use Volume button to select wipe data/factory reset option and use power button to confirm. Complete steps in Lenovo S5000 Tablet Manual.
Try a local phone repair shop, when you can't find a Lenovo certified repair centre. First ask them what it will cost you, then decide if you think it is worth repairing. Don't leave it without knowing what they will ask. A screen alone can be very expensive.
Either your laptop had gone to sleep or hibernate mode. You can set the timers under Power Options on the Control Panel for the laptop to go on sleep mode or hibernate mode if idle for span of time.
You can wake up the laptop by touching the touchpad, pressing a key or pressing the power button.
However, if above options will not work, the only option for you is to press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds to completely turn off the unit. Try to power on the computer if it will boot up okay.
***ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR CASE TO CASE BASIS**
If you still get black screen, remove the battery and the ac adapter (charger) then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to discharge power in the motherboard. You can now reinsert the battery and power on the system normally.
***NOTE: If the computer will not boot up, the LCD or the motherboard might have failed.
