Removing the front plate on a Whirlpool WED7800XW

After you get to the element, you may want to troubleshoot other components. Common problems are failure of the thermal limiter on the element housing and poor ventilation. If the dryer is producing any heat at all, don't disassemble the dryer, you have a ventilation issue.

Unplug the dryer.

You need a 1" putty knife to get the top up. At the front left and right corners under the top panel there is a spring clip. It may be helpful to look with a flashlight first because there is an alignment pin that sits right beside them. They can be stubborn so you may need to hit the back of the putty knife to get them loose. Apply upward pressure on the top panel as you disengage the spring clips. You will also need to remove the screws that secure the front panel to the lint screen housing (2 or 4 philips screws).

Once you get both sides released, open the door 90 degrees and the top panel will lift up on a rear hinge. With the top up you can access two 5/16" hex screws that secure the front panel to the bulkhead. Remove these and the front panel should lean forward. Remove front panel.

Remove the 5/16" hex screws that secure the lower lint screen duct to the blower housing and front bulkhead and remove duct. Disconnect wiring harness for the moisture sensor at the bottom right of bulkhead. There will be 4 screws holding the bulkhead to the rest of the cabinet. Remove these and lift off front bulkhead assembly. Two rollers on the back will want to hang on to the drum but gently turning the bulkhead should release without much trouble.

Remove the belt by releasing tension on the idler pulley and, using the belt as a handle at the top, remove the belt and drum together. The element is on the right, and you will need to remove the wires from the thermal limiter at the back, hi limit thermostat in the middle, and element at the front.

To remove the element, there are two 1/4" screws at the front that are tough to get to because you don't have much clearance, but they support the front of the element housing. There is one screw at the rear. Remove the element and then the hi limit and thermal limiter screws.

I have an Admiral ade7005ayw dryer and it started making a loud squealing noise. I believe it is the drum glides causing the problem. How do I fix them?

First it may not just be them. You need to check all the rollers also. Turn off the power or unplug. Take off the front panels. Then the front bulkhead. pull belt off motor then slide drum out. The drum glide will be 2 plastuc strips on the front bulkhead. The rollors wil be on the back bulkhead. Give them a spin if they don't spin freely replace both cause you don't want to do this again in a short amount of time. To take off those rollers you will need a set of lockring pliers. Also check the Idler pulley that puts tension on the belt for wear.

How do I remove front panel so I can vacuum the excess lint inside the dryer?

remove 4 philips head screws inside door opening. twist the top narrow part of the front panel to release itfrom clips, tip panel out towards you and lift off. there are 6 5/16 screws on the sides of the bulkhead that needto be removed(there are 8 but 2 of them can be left in). lift the top slightly and you can remove the front bulkhead and clean the duct area.

I have an Amana Designer Series Dryer #LE7111WB the front felt broke and started making this grinding noise. When I checked the dryer my clothes were stuck in the drum and there were pieces of metal in...

Without seeing the pieces of metal I would think that they came from the front bulkhead, which is what supports the front of the drum,if it has made the surface of the bulkhead rough it will need to be replaced along with the front seal....

your thumpin noise is most likely a flat spot on your drum rollers. open the door and remove the 4 screws ( 2 on either side ). this will allow you to take the front panel off. after that is removed, there are 4 3/8 nut screws that hold on the front bulkhead. remove those screws and lift up on the bulkhead to remove ( note: you may need to remove the 2 nuts screws and brackets that secure the top so you can lift the top up ). after removing the bulkhead, you will need to undo the belt ( easiest if you do it from the back ) and take out the drum. your drum rollers are on the back of the dryer on the bottom. you can visually inspect them and if they are bad, they will need to be replaced. Blower Wheel has something stuck

TURN OFF THE POWER. youll need a 5/16 socket or a nut driver. remove the bottom access panel 2 screws across the bottom, then 2 more screws directly behind the a panel will release the front door panel assy. write down the light switch wire order, youll need to disconnect them.and put panel aside, youll then have to remove the next 4 5/16 screws holding the front bulkhead on, after rremoving the screws the panel lifts of the 2 lower tabs put aside, and youll see the sock and the fan motor right there.when reassembling you need to insert the front glides on the last bulkhead removed UNDER the drum assy and then insert the tabs into the slots and resecure(this bulkhead supports the drum with the nylon glides(very important!!!!!!) and reassemble the same way it came apart!!!!
