Question about Miele Dishwashers
Our miele g 1874 scvi makes a sound that drives us nuts. Is there any way to make it stop? Im talking about the sound it makes when it is finished washing the dishes.
Is this a high-pitched whine or screech? If so, then you have the Miele Problem.
This happens every year or two. Take off the outside front panel to access the hose that runs from the bottom of the fan down to the dispenser, and lets the water drain out through it to the interior. Clean out that hose as well as you can. Replace. This is a stupid problem that Miele should have a permanent fix for. Grrrr.
The hose cleans out quickly, the problem is getting the front back on. 4 hands make it easier. It slips on when you start close to vertical, then slip in in and down. For putting the screws back in, you might have to use a micro screwdriver to re-align the little clips on the door panel. (You will see what I mean when you do it!) This costs a service call ($100, give or take) to call for service, but it is easy to learn to do it yourself. It can be done at home with no added parts. I think it applies to all Miele dishwashers, and I have now done it several times. As I said before, this is a design fault and should not be necessary!
If you have a helper to help contain the mess, you can spray water into the fan area (best is backward through the hose, but try all directions) and catch the runoff. We have done this and it catches a lot of gunk, muck and slop.
Doggone design sucks on an otherwise nice machine!!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I had the same problem only I couldn't get it to go at all. The problem was a bad motor/pump assembly (VERY EXPENSIVE). The bottom inside the dishwasher filled with water, so the intake interlock wouldn't allow new water to go in. I think I am going to throw my 4 year old, $1000 dishwasher out and buy a new one at Sears. Can't believe it is so poorly made.

if water comes into machine then valve is ok.
open machine when in cycle and look to see if spray arms are rotating
if not, then take out and clean.
spray arms only rotate with water jetting out of angled nozzles at end and if these are blocked then no rotation and poor wash

This just happened to me (my hands are still dripping from cleaning out the water at the bottom of the tub). Frustrated because I had cleaned the filters, bailed out the water with a cup, yet the light was still flashing. I finally followed the troubleshooting guide in the operating manual and held down the start/stop button for 5 seconds, while the machine was on, which seemed to reset everything. Works fine now.

Sounds like something is caught in th drain pump as the unit has to drain first before anything else happens. Remove the filter and the non return valve which is under the clip in the sump of the unit. In the manual it shows you this. Make sure the drain pump is free of any foreign particles like broken glass. Then start the unit again so it goes to drain without the non return valve in place. This will then throw out any foreign particles as well.
or it could be the drain pump is activated all the time which is the noise you hear as there is a flood in the base of the unit which activates the float switch and constantly activates the drain pump until the water has gone. Isolate the unit at the power switch and remove the bottom panel under the door panel. Dry up the water as best possible with a towel. You will see the float at the front. Run the unit again and check for any water leaks. You may just have over sudded the unit with too much detergent. Only use 2 teaspoons of powder. To start with while testing don't use any detergent. Good luck

Testimonial: "Thank you for your excellent advice, the machine was flooded in the base when the panel was removed. "
check the filters. also check drain. Sounds like it's not fully draining and/or there is not enough water (ie. when filter are clogged)curculating to wash the dishes properly
