Question about Sanyo PLV-Z2 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Sanyo PLV-Z2 flashing then off

Projector comes on and picture is ok, and difficult to adjust with any success. After about 5-10 mins, the screen flashes on and off, then completely off. Fan is running, but something tells me this is an overheating situation. Can I clean fan motor? Are there replacement parts for this fan motor? Thanks for all your help.

SOURCE: I have a Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector and the lamp light

The ballast unit has failed, possibly due to overheating as that is an "A4" sized unit and if ceiling mounted gets too warm when the filters are dirty.

DVI will not recognise now ?

Presumably, you're going directly from DVI port on computer to DVI port on Z2?. Here is a Q&A list based on all the possible sceanrios for this hook-up...

Q1: Is it DVI-D or DVI-I (with unencrypted DIGITAL output from graphics card)?
A1: Choose 'Input 2', then 'RGB(PC Digital)' on Z2.

Q2: Is it DVI-D or DVI-I (with HDCP-encrypted DIGITAL output from graphics card)?
A2: Choose 'Input 2', then 'RGB(AV HDCP)' on Z2.

Q3: Is it DVI-I or DVI-A (with ANALOGUE output from graphics card)?
A3: Choose 'Input 2', then select 'RGB(Analog)' on Z2.

After making sure the correct 'Input 2' is chosen to match the signal coming from the card's DVI port, make sure your card is outputting a suitable screen resolution that the PLV-Z2 can display correctly, e.g... 1280x720 (native, and preferable!); 640x480; 800x600; 1024x768 (choose this if you don't have 1280x720); 1280x1024, etc. Also, if you have multiple refresh rates availble for the resolutions, choose 60Hz.

You should end up with an image.
