Question about Boating

My 21ft boat shows low fuel error but the tank is full. The motor alarm comes on and it only allows you to travel at 5 knots as it appears there is a computer malfunction. It's a Stejcart boat with a Mercury 150 hp Optimax outboard . Thank you

Any chance of a clogged fuel filter or fuel line? Does the primer bulb stay firm? With the ethanol in gasoline it will cause fuel lines to collapse internally. Also the rubber in the engine fuel pump.

Dont have the manual in front of me...recollect that there's two types of warnings. The pulsating warning is oil (starts with 30 minutes of oil left) or the fuel filter (or sperator, something like that) may have water in it. Running outboard with cover off, is a little black box that would have a red light lit if that's the case. If oil full & no red light, may be oil injection system...would also check to make sure lines aren't pinched, etc. Mine has been specific to oil the two times its gone off.

The full non-pulsating is engine overheat. Not sure beyond that.

Not much, but hopefully gets you going.

SOURCE: I have a johnson 50 hp outboard when travelling in

In the hub of the propeller is a rubber bush that stops damage to the shafts and g/box if something is struck with the prop. These bushes do give way and are repairable.See your local boat shop or look for a specialist propeller shop.Probably the latter as the boat shops sends the props to them anyway. Its called the propeller hub bush or just the prop bush.Just take the prop into them and all will be good.Hope this helps you

Yamaha 115 4 stroke alarm sounds when boat is in neutral. forward or reverse no alarm. oil is good and water out of the spout.

Which alarm is sounding? Oil or overheating? You need to figure this out first! ... Is the water coming out of the spout high pressure or can you hold your finger over it and stop the flow? If you can stop the flow, you have a bad water pump impeller. If not... you are probably getting good water pressure. If your oil tank is full, the low level sensor is dirty or bad..this will cause the alarm..Fix each of these and repost.

Have a johnson 200 hp ocean runner.carbs have oil in fuel when i let the motor run for abouy 5 minutes the low oil alarm starts beeping.

Check if your oil feed hose isn't bent or cracked.
It' a sign the oil from your tank couldn't get to the engine fast enough...
If it's a 2 hose oil tank, check if your oil tank cap is wel sealed.

My boat motor with oil injection is using too much oil.Could I put mixed fuel in the fuel tank and the oil tank not having to worry about all the alarms then

Yes you could premix your fuel but you will need to block delivery from oil tank otherwise you will only make the problem worse.

You need to hook it up to a DDT box to see what codes are present. Are we talking about fuel or oil? Low oil in the motor tank (or a bad oil tank sender) will definitely make it go into gaurdian mode.

Suzuki outboard

Check and clean carbs. If same problem persists rebuild or change full pump. Firstly ensure clean plugs, and fuel filter. If you hook up a inline fuel pressure gauge, then run. You may have low press output, at cont full load. If so you need to open your vapor separator tank. Check and clean high presure pump and pre filter. You need to clean and inspect needle and seat. Than repeat test as outlned above.

The gas gauge on my 2002 chevy venture is not

Hi:
Your tank sending unit is bad. Unfortunately, it is part of the fuel pump assembly, and the part costs around $400, give or take. plus installation labor. It is an all too common problem on GM vehicles, as I have had to change it on my last 2 GMs. If you do an internet search you will find plenty of others in the same boat!

35hp Johnson evinrude outboard not running at full potential

Hi, did you buy your engine used? Sounds like your gonna have to get the carb or carbs cleaned. Its possible you could have a stopped up fuel filter, or not enough spark but i am guessing its gonna be the carbs. They got some gunk in em i bet. Probably old fuel turned to gunk from setting up. I had the same problem on my 40 horse.
