same exact thing happened except mine was on disc 1..

Same deal for me. Called customer support and they said send it in for service.

You can try resetting the unit by holding down the "disc3" and "<<" buttins on the face until the display shows a strring of numbers, then "disc 4" and "<<" until "BYE" is displayed. Power down, then up.

This did not help me at all.

Next step is to find out the repair cost. IF this is a common problem, I think Kenwood should just fix it.

I just fixed mine. Same scenario, with the loading and #1 displayed. The tray changer was jammed.

Take the cover off the unit and gently convince the changer to spin. It will go *crack* and then exhibit free-play. Turn the machine back on and voila it works.

I'm now watching Braveheart on 480p on 55"widescreen!!!!!

Dvd tray error?

It is a mechanical problem with its disc loading tray. Either a broken loading belt, or a broken gear wheel at the disc loading section can poise this kind of problem. It can be repaired; by take out the disc loading mechanism from the set. Contact any service technician. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

VCR EJECT FAILURE

When a tape won't eject, the problem can be caused by several things. The most common problem is that the belt that operates the eject mechanism is slipping and not allowing it to eject the tape. This can be fixed by either using a re-grip solution on the belt or having the belt replaced. With the cover off (be careful not to touch anything live with power) and try loading and unloading a tape. Try to find the motor and belt which operates the loading mechanism. When it "catches" as you say, try moving the belt pulley with your finger to give it a little help and see if it continues on with the operation. If it does, the belt is probably slipping. It takes more effort on the belt & pulley during an eject sequence rather than the a load sequence, so it may load fine but have trouble ejecting. Gravity and the weight of the tape is why you may not have this problem during the load sequence.

VHS portion not loading or unloading tapes

Yes! it may be the loading basket problem, or the supply voltage is missing.

I cannot eject the dvd I just watched

Possible that the mechanism is jammed or that the drive is faulty . Sut down power and if the set is too warm allow it to cool off. Sometimes the DVD can be warped and is struck inside in which case you will need to remove the panel to assist and help the dvd to come out. Also sometimes the loading motor or the drive can be faulty , clipping in the gears or belt and so will not unload the mechanism. You will then need to check if the motor is working when the eject is pressed in which case there is a slipping. Other wise the loading drive circuit is to be checked , a false command or failed driver IC.

What is mean by loading and unloading of

Video information is compressed by various algorithms and methods...loading the compressor minimizes the data for saving, unloading the compressor is the same thing as decompressing the video information, and making it viewable. Although I've never really come across these terms, that's what I believe they're referring to. Most references are that the video data is compressed (for saving), and uncompressed (for viewing).

Screen comes on, disk turns, loading starts, and doesnt stop

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you.

Phillips DVP 1013 there is a DVD in the tray, but the traywon't open. What should I do?

Try opening the tray manually, there's a hole behind the DVD where you can insert a flat head screwdriver and turn to get the tray open OR your DVD may have a rectangular hole, the hole allows you to turn a little gear from the loading mechanism to unload the tray.

Dvd eject button does not respond

Had a similar problem after loading a suspect dvd (one I had buned myself) Could not do anything - stuck at loading.
Try this :
  1. Unplug and wait 10 seconds
  2. plug it back in and wait 1 minute. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS!
  3. With the machine still in the standby state, press eject on the REMOTE. It should eject without trying to read the disk.

Good luck. It worked for me.
