SOURCE: Aspect ratio problems on Samsung LN-S2651D Flat Panel TV

The aspect ratio (zoom) button on the cable remote had been changed. On Brighthouse the # button toggles through the zoom settings. It's not a tv issue, it's a cable fix.

Yes, it is possible the settings from your cable box maybe set to the wrong ratio eg:letterbox. Depending on what type of box you have, look in the cable box menu for a settings option, then change the aspect ratio to a different format.

Connect my Acer monitor to my digital cable box.

Not sure what your cable box outputs but connect your cable box to a tv and try changing the resolution of your cable box to 1600x900 or less if there is such a setting; the monitor will not display resolutions higher than 1600x900

Haier tv I am hooked into Bell Expressvu. HD receiver and I can't get the picture to expand to the entire tv screen. i can only find HD Normal and it stays in a small screen view.

It might be necessary to change the resolution/Aspect Ratio (Screen Size) settings on both your HD Receiver and your TV.
I don't have Bell Satellite but I do remember having the same issue setting up my friends HD TV and Bell Satellite TV Receiver.

I can't get the picture to fully fill the screen on my 46'' TV. Model code ln46a750r1fxza. Used the ''tools'' button on the remote and tried adjusting the picture size, but it did not correct the problem....

First set your tv to 16:9 aspect ratio. Then go to the source ie: Cable Box or Sat Box. Then go into the User Menu and find the Set Up or HD settings or picture settings. You need to set the Box to the "Stretch" setting. Right now your source box is set ot 4:3 aspect ratio.. If you have difficulty in changing the aspect ratio on the source box, call the Cable or Sat co. They can help you.

Picture size/aspect ratio in HDTV and upconverting DVD

In the digital world, you can't have a 4:3 aspect ratio DVD title (720x480) on a 720p (1280 x 720) / 1080p (1920x1080) display without some kind of centering or stretching to some extent. (square vs rectangle) Now, on a 16:9 aspect ratio title (wide screen format) you should have any scaling issues regardless of the pixel resolution. Despite what the sales person told you, trans-coding ("upconverting") lower resolution titles to a higher resolution does not increase the quality of the image. Any attempt to do so would be only to try to reduce block noise and any kind pixelation at higher resolutions. (blurring square pixel blocks)

In the analog world, the quality of the image is based on the encoder and signal depth. If your TV excepts HD analog, you might be able to have your cake and eat it too. That would force your display to convert an analog signal into a digital resolution, letting the TV hardware do all the trans-coding. Manufactures are completely phasing out analog signal receiving, but might have the RGB RCA connectors for backwards compatibility. Eventually, it will not be supported and you will be forced to buy higher resolution content.

Aspect ratio, cuts off edges of picture.(NOT THE T.V, THE RECEIVER!)

Dilon, 311's have no aspect ratio adjustment and is not able to switch from the standard 4:3 setting therfore if it is connected to a TV with a large screen the TV has to stretch the picture to fill the screen thus cutting off portions of the picture. I suggest you get a HD receiver as they will be able to change the format and aspect ratio but even these make some sacrifices to fill the screen as well. Most notable of the losses will be the ticker tape at the bottom of the screen where sports scores usually are displayed. Thhis is all a result of the plethora of screen sizes on the market and will not be resolved anytime soon that I am aware. Dish has a 211 which is a one room HD receiver, 612 which is a one room dual tuner receiver with DVR, 222 which is a dual tuner two room receiver with HD capability to the first location and SD to the second, 622 and 722 which are both dual tuner two room DVR receivers with HD to the first location and SD to second. I am sorry I could not bear better news but I wanted to thank you for using Fix Ya and if you need further assistance please let me know.

Connecting dvi cable straight to acer monitor

The cable box is probably outputting a resolution the monitor is not compatible with. Computer monitor and television resolutions are usually different, and not cross compatible in some cases.

For example, wide screen monitors are usually 16:10 aspect ratio, while TV is usually 16:9 aspect.

The AL2216wbd is a 1680x1050 display, while HD TV is either 720p (1280x720) or 1080i (1920x1080).

If your cable box is set to 1080i that would be too high for the monitor. You will need to set it to output at 720p, and even then you will probably get a vertically stretched picture since the monitor has a taller aspect.
