You can find replacement springs for anything at any hardware store. The heavy duty spring on my sisters recliner broke and the chair would not stay down. I found the original spring laying under the chair with the hook broke off one end. She went to a local hardware store and they had springs that were the right length and proper pull weight, got one and brought it home. I turned the chair over, opened it up and put the spring on, closed the chair up and set it upright and it works perfectly. So don't tell me you can't find a spring to fix your little scooper. Go to the hardware store.
(You didn't say which chair.) From a warranty sheet that came with a chair: "Warranty is limited to normal usage, not exceeding 40 hours per week and 250 lb. weight."
Tempur-Pedic seating (Raynor Group), model TP4100 chair. $300 (December 2015).
Cheaper chairs can have lower ratings.
This is most likely a case that the controller/computer(the box that the joystick plugs into down inside the chair)is placing the chair into what is called a "limp-home" mode. It automatically senses something seriously wrong with the chair and starts cutting the power to the motors, such as overheating. If they are still getting hot, it will shut itself down completely, and you can restart after all cools down, but you have a serious problem on your hands. This usually happens when a chair is loaded near or past its maximum weight, and say you try to drive it up a long incline....motors will overheat and it will slow down, then shut down. If it is doing it on a flat surface without being heavily loaded, you have motor problems or controller problems.
A folding beach chair is a type of chair that's made of lightweight materials and can be folded. These chairs are also very easy to move around because they're so light.
Each
manufacturer has their own weight limit published, so I advise asking in
advance. From my research, it seems that
most chairs can hold up to 270lbs; although there are some models that have a
higher capacity.
