Canon Speedlite 580ex ii - won't work with camera

Caroline, you should try to set the camera on "M" and the flash in 2nd curtain flash sync.

Or set flash in ATG wireless IR ETTL Slave modes and pop-up the flash on Canon EOS-70D.

Speedlite 580 pilot light on but flash wont fire

More info needed: Will the flash fire when you push the test button? Have you rest the camera you're using to factory defaults while the flash is mounted on the camera and turned on?

I do not have the manual. Where can I download?

Question is: is there a mania? Because Meike does not send a manual with the MK-40N. Perhaps you try to get a manual of the Nikon SB-910 for free with Nikon USA. Because it won't be the same, but you can learn what that speed light can and how to set it. You than can find the same things on the MK-40N more easy.

Pilot light not lighting on 420ex speedlite canon flash

This may seem dumb to ask but have you made sure all batteries are fresh (even new ones can be bad), they\'re inserted correctly observing polarity and the contacts are clean in the flash? (You can clean them using a clean, dry pencil eraser and a Q-Tip dipped lightly in alcohol.)

Also, try mounting the flash on your camera, turn both on and reset your camera to factory default settings through your camera menu settings.

Speedlite 430ex, pilot light on, flashes when I hit the pilot, but will never fire when taking a picture....the "ready" light below the red pilot light never turns on

Typically, it means your batteries are low but I am sure that you know that already.
The next cause is a mechanical failure. The flash has capacitors that **** up the battery power until they have a full charge and the trigger the ready light. Therefore, if your batteries are good then it is likely that the capacitors are disconnected or have failed. Eitherway, you will most likely have to send it out to a Canon service center. You can find service centers at

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Canon 50D doesn't recognize new Speedlite 430EX II. Flash power is on and pilot releases flash.

Check the contacts on both the camer and the lens. I usually clean mine with methylated spirits or isopropyl alcohol. I have to do this every 3 months or so as dirt or even oils from your hands can stop the contacts from working properly.

Why wont the pilot light flash on at all ? everything else works but speedlite wont flash?

Because of the high voltage inside the camera, that will have to be sent to Canon for repair.
