This is a new problem maybe having to do with the keyboard getting wet. The keyboard is dry and workking fine now.

have you accidently installed another sound driver my friend had same problen i rolled back the driver and it worked fine
SOURCE: One of my library files needed to run control panel is missing
If the system came with a cd for the keyboard, reinstall it. otherwise, reinstall the windows.

Uninstall the old drivers and try the drivers from here.

I had the same problem a few months ago, i also looked to see if i saw a mute function that was active anywhere.
I did not find anything so i just reinstalled the application and my problem was fixed. At the link below you can find the realtek audio app. for xp and vista.

SOURCE: i have a Sony vaio vgc-m1 , i think some liquid
the beeping is cause by a key that is pressed constanly try and find that key and unpress it manually that should solve your problem
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to sound video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to
reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the
(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it
