I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) and using a Linksys WMP45G to connect to a Siemens SE 587 wireless modem. The connection will be stable for a time, and then drop for no explicable reason. The only way to re-establish the connection is by restarting the SE 587. However, even when my wireless card refuses to connect, other wireless devices can freely use the wireless access point.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this, short of buying a new wireless router and hooking it up to the modem?
well!! I have an answer for you.your comp is loosing the IP address. goto start - programmes - accessories - dos prompt. type ipconfig.you`ll get ip address, subnet mask, default gateway.copy it. goto network and sharing center, click on view status, goto propertiesand double click on internet protocol(tcp/ip) or IPv4.type in the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway.in DNS server address type the default gateway in primary DNS and in secondary 4.2.2.2.
ypur connection won`t drop after this.
