Not familiiar with the PSR 6700, HOWEVER on the Yamaha Tyros the keys stay with the baseplate part. Once the top cover is removed, there are screws holding the segments of keys. The keys on the Tyros are in segments. As I recall the black keys are in two individual sections.
There may be commonality between the synths.
The keys press on a sheet of silicon rubber domes that have conductive "pills" under them. The restoring force is actually from the dome itself. Two contacts per key! BE CAREFUL to align the silicon sheet when re-assembling.

Make sure you use correct power supply.
Try headphones. If they work, then the switch on the headphone jack that disconnects the speakers may not be working properly and not connecting the speakers.

Verify that the disk is sampled when you insert it, that is you can hear it access the disk. Also make sure you disks have NOT been corrupted by trying them in a computer or near magnetic fields. Some Cell Phones have a strong enough magnet in the speaker of them to degauss the disks.
