Need a good vacation timer. Any suggestions?

Copy following link to see analog vacation timers that turn lights on at random times.
Set current time slightly different so lights inside house can turn on-off at slightly different schedules.
Rotate dial to set current time, plug timer into outlet, make sure bulb is good, turn light ON, and plug light into timer.

Multi-function digital timers, such as Woods 59377, and lifetime-warranty Intermatic DT620 also have vacation feature, and timers have 2 outlets, but programming is more complicated than using analog timer.

When you turned off power, did you turn off circuit breaker? Or turn off manual override on timer?
If circuit breaker is turned on, does the timer dial rotate?
If timer dial rotates and keeps good time, then electricity to timer is good, timer clock motor is good.
If dial is rotating, what happens when you move override lever back and forth? Does load turn on?
Read through troubleshoot on link above and then add a comment with more details if needed.

Timer turn on but doesnot turn off

New timer is probably wired wrong, or older timer probably needs new trippers.

I have a Tork 1104 FM timer on my pool. It was not turning off, so I replaced the trippers. Still not turning off. The timer turns the pool on, but not off. Must do it manually. Any suggestions?

Hi,
The internal mechanism will wear and then the timer mechanically will not turn of...but if you do it manually the contacts will break, shutting the load off...

You will need to replace the complete timer...there is no way to rebuild the mechanical part of the timer...

York timer controls pool pump. When I want to turn the pump off for maintenance, the "Off" lever will not stay down and turn the unit off.

More information may be needed.
Turn off the breaker to turn off power to load.

If this is a mechanical timer, and the override lever is not working, turn off power at the breaker.
Use WD40 to see if you can loosen the lever.
With mechanical timer, usually when override is not working, it signals you need new timer.
Add a comment and describe timer and what you have tried so far and what solved the problem.

Add a comment with in-focus photo of your timer posted on Flickr for possible identification and more complete help.

I cannot find reference to York timers on the web to recommend a replacement timer.
If timer is 120V then Intermatic T101, or if timer is 240V then Intermatic T104

Intermatic competitive reference crossover guide does not show York brand timers as of right now.

We need clear instructions for setting the timer

Woods makes several outdoor timers:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html

Image that shows with this post is Woods model #49647.
Below are instructions for #49647 timer.

If your timer is different, add a comment with model number and I'll post instructions for that timer.

Woods model #49647 is outdoor timer with photoelectric control that turns timer ON at dusk.
There are 4 possible settings that show on dial.
Rotate dial to make timer selection.
OFF = timer is OFF full-time until you change dial.
ON = timer is ON full-time until you change dial.
Dusk-Dawn = timer turns ON at dusk and OFF at dawn
2, 4, 6, 8 hours = timer turns ON at dusk, and turns OFF 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours later.

Is a globe outlet timer supposed to turn when plugged in? it is a "pin" type

Yes it turns when time passes.

If timer is not turning, it is broken and needs to be replaced, or the electricity is off.

Gets stuck in cycle I have to turn the knob to get it to continue. The machine is the heavy duty large capacity I can't find a model #

Looks like you need a timer. If the model number is really gone there should be a part number n the timer. look everywhere around the door/lid and even on the back. Eric

T101 Intermatic Timer will not turn lights on or off

You have a weak timer motor. The T101 is notorious for it. I have 6 on my property and have had that problem numerous times. You need to replace the guts of the timer.

Dryer not heating up

If the timer knob does not turn in a clockwise direction, then chances are the timer is bad.

Heating is a different issue, although, if the timer knob will not turn, then it may not be at a position that turns the heat on.

Replace the timer, then check the heating. If the heater then works, then the problem was in the timer. If it doesn't, then we need to look at problems within the heater circuit.

Reply back what you find out.
