HP Pavilion ZD8000 No CD Boot

I have the laptop listed in the problem summary. I've set CD boot as the default, but after the initial BIOS screen it shows a flashing line. The CD drive revs but does not load the CD. Afterwards it will just sit flashing its cursor at me. Any suggestions?

After installed a new hard drive im getting no bootable device found. what should i do?

the computer is looking for a boot device
make sure there are disk in the drives cd and usb

Restart your computer

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys navigate to advanced bios features make sure its set to boot from your hard drive or
you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart this will set the boot order

if still no joy you might have to check the power and data leads connecting from motherboard to you hard drive for secure seatings

I have a hp zd8000 that has just suddenly stopped working just reboots and i have not got the restore disc..any way round it ?

Does it boot to the windows screen. By pressing f12 or f2 whatever your machine requires while booting will take you into the bios. Inside the bios you can run all sorts of tests to see what the problem is.

My hp zd8000 is not rebooting and been told i need a new motherboard

Before you start thinking about your motherboard, let's rule out your harddrive.

Go online and Google "emergency boot cd" and choose a product that works for you. Many have "demos" you can use with limited capability, but that's fine. You will need to take the .iso file and burn a CD with it. This will create a bootable CD.

You will need to setup the computer to boot from a CD by going into BIOS and setting the boot sequence to CD first. If you don't know how to do that, here's a good article...
http://www.cites.illinois.edu/security/antivirus/bios.html

Using your newly created CD, put it into CD drive and start boot up. If your computer boots normally, you have a harddrive tht has failed. If not, you may have a motherboard issue, or possibly a different hardware issue that may require professional assistance.

Hp pavilion zd8000 just over 2 years old

Sounds like you are getting a supply line issue which is well known on these models. Pull the battery, Boot into BIOS, (F10 at the splash screen) And see if it will run for an extended period of time. Next if it does Boot into Safe mode and do the same..(This is F8).. Post back..
