Unfortunately you will need the new kit specific to your car. Thule and Yakima both for that matter do a ton of research to make sure the mounts are specific to the shape of the car to ensure that no damage occurs and that your roof rack does not go flying off. You have to use the system specific to your car to make sure that it all works correctly.
When I had a similar instance come up last year, I sold the old footpack on EBAY for $15 less than the new footpack I was replacing with, so in the end not much expense out of pocket. Maybe it will work for you too.
