SOURCE: oven burnout

The oven is controlled by an Electronic Range Control (ERC). This is the clock assembly on the range. The surface elements are powered by infinite switches and do not go through the ERC. That explains why the clock assembly is dead, your oven does not work, but your surface elements do. You need to replace the ERC. If you can provide me with a model number (located near the oven door or bottom drawer opening on most ranges, on the back of the console on some) I can determine what type of ERC you need and how much it might cost you. Post back with comments and let me know if I can be of further assistance. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: whirlpool electric range won't work

We read on another site that sometimes an electical surge messes something up and that if you unplug the range for a few minutes it will reset. So we unplugged our range and when we plugged it in again it worked fine.

How do we operate the clock radio with batteries?

Anise, most clock battery backup's will most likely just keep the time setting on the clock until power is restored rather than actually power the clock radio during a power outage.

We have an XE-A217W which has decided not to work following a power failure. The printer still scrolls but the screens remain blank

Hi Trevor.
By 'scrolls' I guess you mean 'feeds paper'?
If display screen is blank since the outage, try switching off and unplugging the printer for a minute or so, then re plug.
Unfortunately, a power outage often results in surges and brownouts while power is being restored, which can disrupt or damage electronics and electrical devices.
The board may have fried.

How do I fix A clock that has not worked since a power outage

The cooking environment is not really clock-friendly and it is amazing cooker clocks and timers last as long as they do. If it is a mechanical clock it is likely to be driven by a synchronous motor. When that type of motor starts sometimes they run backwards and need stopping again. Sometimes they just don't restart and need a tap or flicking the adjustment controls might work. Could be it needs cleaning or perhaps it is worn out.

If the clock is electronic, it must be remembered a power outage is often accompanied by a damaging current surge.

I suggest you remove the clock and check the supply. If the supply is ok the clock is faulty.

Frigidaire CPEF3081MFC - Clock and timer run fast [gaining approx. 10 mins per hour]. Everything else, including temperature, functions normally.

If the power outage was as a result of a power surge it is likely that
the components were affected in some way, they may need diagnosing and repair or replacement.
There are many reports of electronic devices going wrong after
a power cut...the outages are , seemingly responsible for a lot of damage. If this is the case I would look at whether there is a mechanism for claiming reparatory compensation from the power company you are signed to

I am looking to get a Malibu digital landscape transformer, such as model # 8100-9045-01, and I'm wondering if they have a "memory backup". In other words, every time there is a temporary...

8100-9045 is rated for 45 watts.
That's two 20 watt bulbs, or three 15 watt bulbs.

Power outage carryover: Contact Malibu directly since there is conflicting information on Malibu site:

8100-9045-01 45-watt power pack page on the support tab says 'loss of power will stop timer.'
And then mentions tripper.

However other information on Malibu wesite contradicts power-outage information and shows 8100 series timer is electronic and is controlled by photoeye, and that timer has no tripper.
As a general rule with electronic timers, there is battery or capacitor carryover.

Oven won't turn on, had a power outage on the street 3 times today. Tried flipping the fuse, but nothing has happened. Any suggestions? Not sure which model Zanussi it is, except it is not brand new!!

The electronic clock/timer must be in manual mode for the oven to operate. When the power to the oven is cut the electronic clock/timer reverts to automatic mode when the power comes back on.

Clock on a GE electric range is buzzing - how to disconnect it

Turn off power to range first!!!

You'll have to remove the back of the panel in which the clock is installed to access the back of the clock. There will be two wires attached to the clock. Just pulling one of these wires off will stop the clock.

I would suggest, however, that you pull both wires off, put electrical tape on the ends of the connectors, and tuck them out of the way somewhere around the clock.
