If the SD card is over 1GB then the camera does not support it.

However, there is a Firmware Upgrade Located at the Link Below that is said to Help Resolve this Issue...

Filesys error e 00100 can't format memory card

Hello :

You may have a damaged card installed in the camera. Either try another card, or try to reformat the card. If you have an external card reader (external to your PC) then try to put the card into that device and see if your computer can recognize the card .
if you have images on there, you may be able to recover them .

good luck .

SDHC Card 4 GB SanDisk will not format. get

The Z740 uses SD cards, not SDHC cards. SDHC cards will physically fit into the card slot but are not compatible. It's a hardware incompatibility, not updatable in firmware. You'll have to stay with 2GB and smaller SD cards.

Try cleaning the contacts on the memory card(usually sraping them lightly with a knife helps with contact) and if that doesn't work try formatting the card in your computer.
