SOURCE: Bernina Patchwork 140 handwheel is getting stiff to turn

A stiff handwheel can be a simple as a thread stuck in the raceway or as severe as a failed uppershaft bushing.

Using your instruction manual, perform the basic maintenance and see if that helps. If not, take it to a repair person for evaluation.

Janone 10000 stiff handwheel...

The belt material in the bottom of the machine is there because the belt is slipping and wearing away because of the 'stiffness' this "stiffness" is also causing the motor to strain. If you continue to use the machine in it's current state the motor WILL burn out.

Could be caused by one or two problems or both.

Lack of lubrication oil/grease on all bearings in particular the handwheel bearing, this will be the "tune up" your dealer did.

Other cause could be thread that has somehow got wrapped round the handwheel shaft.

Unless you know how to get into the top of the machine and lubricate it yourself then it is back to the dealer. Same access to the machine is needed to check for trapped thread.

If you do take it to the dealer make him/her show you how to lubricate the thing yourself.
Best of luck
Rob
