Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players
I pressed a bunch of buttons. I did not know what I was doing. How do I reset the factory default settings?

Had the same problem when I changed the factory settings by mistake. There is no "cancel" button in the remote or the set. What worked for me was to follow the directions on P. 22 of the manual and change the remote settings to DVD 1. This is done by holding the "Enter" button and pressing number 1 on the keypad simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. Then, you go back to the "Settings" screen with the "Settings" button, change the control back to DVD 3, and reverse the setting in the remote by pressing "Enter" and the number 3 this time. Remember to hold them down more than 5 seconds. Good luck!

SOURCE: toshiba dvd setting
1. You would press and hold stop on the front of the unit for 5 seconds then let go and press it again normally, you can try this with both the power of the unit on and off.

power on, open disc tray.
On the machine, press and hold the record button and add another finger to hold the Play (x1.3) for 5-10 seconds. The door should stay open. The rating will change to 8.

Although not a very visible fix it can be done quickly if you still have your user's manual. Locate your configuring your recorder section of your manual. Get familuar with the system setup - general page. Push the setup button on your remote and navigate yourself through the unclear display using your manual. Then simply toggle between Progressive and Interlace video. Other option using same page in manual and same "blind" procedure just restore your factory setting.
Hopefully fixes your problem or at least points you in the right direction.

According to Sony, if you turn the power on and hold the Enter key and the #1 key down together for at least 3 seconds, everything will default back to factory settings.
