I have found that copied dvd's don't always work properly and even the slightest blemish or scratch renders it inop also it is illegal to sell a copied disc as it infringes copyright, I understand that the genuine disc's are expensive but you get what you pay for.

My lenovo laptop has a black screen

Hi
Can you hear beeps and the hard drive starting up?
Has the unit been dropped?
Without much info it sounds like it could be either the LCD panel or as simple as a connector coming lose between the board and the screen.

Unit works fine but LCD display does not illuminate. Can be seen in a low ligfht room but it does not light up like it did for years. Do these LCD displays just die???

The older LCD's have backlights hidden behind the display that burn out over a period of time, this is a tricky repair because the unit needs to be stripped down and the covering removed. Soldering skills for most jobs will be required.

32" ALBA 15 MONTHS OLD.

I am afraid it sounds as though either your backlight or power inverter has gone faulty, may be worth contacting alba to see if they will honour the warrenty (unlikely but worth a go) otherwise maybe try your home insurance to see if its covered, failing either of these options, if you feel confident doing so, disassemble the tv and look for any signs of visible damage (capacitors leaking or any components looking burned or scorche, and replace. Try looking for any panel markings which will allow you to search for a price to replace the whole unit.
Unfortunately I cant give you and hard and fast cure, and it is very difficult to tell whether it is the inverter or the backlight has gone (having said that, if you are getting picture at the very beginning, it may suggest that the inverter is getting the power to the backlight ok, which may suggest its the backlight at fault.)
Hope this helps.

You are experiencing a backlight failure. A repair shop can repair the item (grain of wheat lamp).

Once the backlight is repaired, you will see the characters on your screen.

Same stupid problem green is on when plugged in i have sound to turn on with drums beating but no screen have only used the chargers provided when i bought the tom tom i havent even used it in probably 4...

If you have no screen on, then i think you might need to replace the unit and hopefully it is still under warranty. But if not try this, turn the unit on and look very closely at the screen, change the angles and see if you can see a very faint image, if you can, then the unit is working but the backlight display is not working. If it is the backlight display it could be caused by something as simple as a loose connection, or it could need replacement. Hope this helps

Display only stays visible at lowest illumination

Sounds like your display's backlight is dying. Your scfreen is in need of replacement. The higher ther brightness setting the faster it quits working.

No backlight on a cdm-7834

The only possible installation problem could be the illumination wire on the head unit. If this is hooked to a 12 lead it would dim the backlight. Try disconnecting the orange wire if it has one(I'm not sure if the 7834 had a dimmer lead). If that doesn't fix it the head unit will have to be serviced.

LCD screen back light doesn't work

Ditto - JVC KT-SR2000 backlight doesn't work (watched die yesterday), after 2 years, 10 months. Sadly JVC no longer represents quality.
Note: Original JVC KT-SR2000 was a fire hazard - defective from start - overheated hardly describes it. BestBuy replaced first month.
