Gamin nuvi 300 has no voice navigater - Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver

Garmin automotive GPS devices that have text-to-speech (speak street names) are also loaded with pre-recorded voices that do not speak street names (example: "Turn Right in 500 feet"). If one of these pre-recorded voices has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names.
To change the voice prompt to spoken street names:

  1. Touch Tools (Wrench icon) from the Main Menu
  2. Touch Settings*
  3. Select Language or Locale
  4. Touch the Voice language option
  5. Select a voice option that includes a person's name (ex. Emily) or TTS. Options without a name or the TTS label will say the distance until the next turn, but will not include the street name.
  6. Select OK
The device should now speak street names.
*Note: The Setting option is not required on all nuvi units.

Your Nuvi has to boot past the Garmin logo to the main screen before it can be recognized by your PC. Is the unit dead? The Nuvi 14xx series is well known for its problem with the rear USB port coming loose. This will prevent the unit from receiving power from the external charger and will prevent the battery from being charged. If the unit goes into a boot-up loop, displaying the Garmin logo then shuts down, this is often caused by corrupted files, such as a map or bad firmware update. See these two links for more info:

Cannot register my nuvi 765t
Contact Gamin customer service, someone in Garmin may have type in your serial number for someone elses garmin nuvi 765t, it happens once in a while, nothing to worry about, just call Garmin and get it resolved.

Whenever these devices start acting up, I recommend performing a hard reset of your Gamin Nuvi 205. Also, use Garmin's WebUpdater service to make sure you have the latest software on your device. This service will reload all native maps and features of your nuvi.

I lost my pin for my gamin nuvi
You have three options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin:

1 - Enter the correct PIN
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was entered
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin

Unfortunately, these are your only options as this is a security feature to prevent unauthorized use of a stolen GPS.

Garmin nuvi 200
Go to the gamin site and register. You will then need to download the driver for your model. After you register the web site should walk you through this. after you download the driver you may then update the software. One word of note, if you have the 2008 software than your up to date. Gamin updates there maps only once a year.
