working properly
Right click on My Computer. Click properties. Click the hardware tab, and then Device manager. If you see anything like a " ! " or an X on a device, then you likely have a problem with it. Windows is incompident and can't actually figure out if you have the proper driver or not. It said a driver from 2002 was the most up to date driver. I want onto the manufacturer website and they had one from a few weeks earlier (this is about a laser scanner i have). So don't always trust microsoft. The only way i could really tell is if i remote logged into the PC. Sorry. Maybe someone else can figure it out without looking at it.
Not enough information. You likely though have an XP driver in vista. Why don't you check in device manager. To get there: Go right click on "Computer"> Then click "properties"> From here on the left you'll see a link to device manager. Look and see if its being detected wrong or if maybe it needs a reboot. If its being detected but theres a problem with the driver, uninstall it by right clicking. If you see nothing wrong, aka no !!!!'s then you should be ok, and theres another issue. But again more info, device name, driver version, etc.
