Asko 7005 Dryer won't run - blowing fuses?

Hello! I need some help trouble shooting a problem with our dryer. 2 weeks ago it stopped in the middle of a load and would not start again. The reset button in the back was not popped out and I could turn the drum with my hand. I replaced the fuses with new ones and the dryer made a "click" and then nothing more. I thought maybe the problem was inside the fuse hub, so I ordered a set from repair clinic. Unfortunatley, they are back ordered until April. Here's the weird part- we decided to test if it was the fuse or not while we are waiting for the back order by putting in an in line fuse. When the new fuse was in place, the dryer again made a "click" and then nothing. My husband then put a 20 amp fuse in just to see...and it has been running on one 20 amp fuse and one 15 amp fuse for the lat hour and a half. I am currently drying a load of clothes...the dryer doesn't seem to be getting as warm as usual but it is working. I realize that this is not a fix...Any ideas on what this means? If we need to order a different part I'd like to go ahead and get the process started. Thanks! Andrea

Go reset your circuit breaker. Even if it didn't pop out, reset it.

7005 dryer will not start when i push the start button

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I don't know how far you've gone since posting here four hours ago at FixYa but I can tell you 2 of the most likely reason your Asko 7005 dryer will not start.

The first place I'd direct you, would be at the back of the dryer to check the fuses, there are two 15A - 240V slo-blow fuses. In fact both possibilities will be confimed or dismissed at the back of the unit.

If you look at the back as I alluded to by the power cord you'll see two small gray disc/button looking items, these are the fuse holders. You should see this...

i.e.

**Be sure to turn off the power to the dryer or unplug it from the wall before performing any service suggested here please...safety first**

To access and check the fuses, you'll need to remove the holders. To do this requires only a flat screw driver, or even a butter knife and a multi-meter or "OHM" meter to check them.

(Alternately you can switch the fuse with a known good fuse to verify if it is blown )

Insert your tool of choice into the slot in the holder and turn it 1/4 turn counter-clockwise (right) and the holder should be in the position to remove...it may require some giggling to get it out as they have been known to get "stuck" from heat.

Once out this is what you should be presented with...

i.e.

If you remove this fuse from the holder and measure the continuity, you'll know if it is any good.

The other possibility I spoke of is the hi-limit cut out thermostat. It is also located at the back of the dryer.

This is what to look for...

Asko T700 dryer won't run

Hello,

Have you checked the 15amp fuses which are located at the back of your Asko dryer ?

That is where I`d start. They are at the back as I said located next to where the power cord exit`s the unit. Look for 2 small round slotted caps ( these are the fuse holders/hubs ) either black or gray in color.

With a flat screwdriver fitted in the slot of the fuse hub, turn it a half turn counter clockwise an it should drop out...though it may need to be pulled out if it`s stuck in the holder part.

Replace with a 15amp "slow blow" ( the only difference is the slow blow are filled with sand and aren`t transparent glass tubes but rather gray or white in color ) if the fuse is blown.

Hope that is helpful. If so please rate the solution accordingly, if not let me know what you find or if you require further assitance.

Thank`s for visiting fixya today and good luck.

Asko dryer 7005 will not start. When I touched

If a dryer is not working at all that's not good! But it doesn't mean you need to go appliance shopping just yet. It may be something very simple like a broken door latch, a bad door switch or even a broken door switch actuator, in a dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down.
