Question about Sony KLV-32M1 32 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
Screen is dim, and flickers on and off - and at each instance of flicker there is an audible popping sound from the speakers.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If your red light (Stand By) flushes 6 times - most likely your PDP is dead. Did you hear loud noise just before your TV went off? (like gun shot). If yes, then some chip (or chips) mounted on flexible ribbons (connecting PDP to other components were blown up). I had this problem few years ago. And since this time my TV is just peace of junk (needs drivers-ribbons replacement).

SOURCE: picture flickers
Check your power supply. Is it plugged in to the wall or a powerstrip? You might be overloading the powerstrip. Could be a source signal problem. Does this just happen when watching cable TV or does it do it on dvd's as well? Through the PC it is probably the viseo card, try reducing the resolution output from the computer.

brennanrp, I hope you purchased a warranty on your TV. My 46 in xbr-5 was doing the same thing. I called the store I bought it from and they took it to a repair shop. The panel inside, basically the inner workings are faulty and Sony has put an extended warranty on it. Get it looked at as it will only get worse. Soon you will probably be seeing some vapor like images across the screen if you have not already. the lines starting showing up even after extended viewing times.

Sounds like a bad LCD panel, these would give like horizontal lines and double images below.. Sony said it was the TCON board, but that is part of the panel. Call sony cust. service and complain about the issue, they were extending the warranty for such failures as the got a bad batch of LCD panels.. if sony doesn't help it will cost over $1000 so get them to help and they should, they're a good company.
they will want model #, serial #, and date of purchase before helping you.... make a good guess on the DOP if you don't know it, other #s on back of tv
