SOURCE: jb 940 md player. Recording a full disc, always

When you get done recording, do you wait until the "TOC" light stops flashing? If you cut off power before the Table Of Contents is written, then it can't find all your music. Even if you eject, it should still flash a little red TOC or UPDATE before it spits the disc out. Check for that. okay?

HELLO

Strange one this! C13 is a protection error, but the machine should play discs that it recorded. It could be that you may have to give the laser lens a good cleaning by using a cotton bud and a little isopropyl alcohol. You will have to remove the cover to do this and when you clean the lens use a gentle circular motion.

Don't soak the cotton bud when you do this but if you do, remove any excess liquid. Leave it for about 5-10 minutes then try the machine again.

If there is no change, then you will have to take it to a service centre in your area.

GOOD LUCK!

SOURCE: The recording level on my mds-je480 seems to be restricted

First of all, the remote has nothing to do with anything. Neither does the PEAK HOLD function.

Apparently, your source is not putting out a lot of signal. Check to see if it has a volume control. Or that you are connected to the right output (line level and not headphone out, for instance).

Of course, you can always turn up the recording volume on the 480. That's what it is there for. You can go up 12dB, which is plenty. And you can turn that up with the remote or with the AMS dial.

Why doesn't it record to md?

You can't make a copy of a copy of a digitally recorded MiniDisc, so make sure that isn't what's happening- if so, it usually says "Din Unlock" and you can't record. I think when I record from one deck to the other digitally, I have set the recording deck to "REC", then I hit 'play' on both decks at the same time. Using the digital input, it should automatically set your track marks. You cannot make a digital copy of this MiniDisc, BUT you can make an Analog copy. Let me know if you need more info.

hi there is nothing to do by yourself. you need to take your md player to the next authorized service. seems the optical device that reads the discs has worn out, compareable to turntables you need to change the `needle` ;)

Mini disk player JES510 want to record some midi tracks using the optical link. keeps saying din unlock & then if try says cannot record. How can I overcome this? Help appreciated.

Like most home recorders the minidisc will not let you make digital copies of a digital original. The idea is to prevent piracy of copyrighted material.

Unfortunately, that includes digital tracks you yourself made,

Just go through the analog inputs. It will sound fine.

PS - professional minidisc recorders will let you record digitally, but they are expensive.

Problem with Finalizing Disc

When you insert the disc what does the recorder display after it examines it (Reading TOC)? - CDR, TOC, CDR-W, NO TOC?

It should know the disc is not finalized and let you either record more on it or finalize it.

If not, and you need to recover the 4 tracks try loading the disc on a DVD player. My old Pioneer will read unfinalized CDR-A's so I can digitally copy what's on them back to another CDR-A.

Strange recording problem - no diagnostic messages

Sounds like the servo is shot on the deck that moves the laser. MDS JE520 is a nice early deck 1998-1999 vintage, so it's had a great run and I'd look for another on eBay or at a "hamfest" swap & shop for parts.

Playing back footage on pc

don't know u're cam, but usualy the camera haz to "close" the dvd sesion, so that the computer/dvd player .... to be able to play it ...

Ofecourse u can play the video on PC, using cd/dvd data recovery software, that accesses the data directly and not track based ... (that in the case that the dvd got damaged and the recorder can't finish it ...)
