Need switch for mod 338.179220 wet/dry vac

If this is the Sears vac with the toggle, snap out the toggle drill a 1/2" hole and insert an off the shelf switch. The original switch has four terminals; take the ground wire, usually white, and permanently connect . eliminating the switch and run the black circuit through the new switch. OR

Permanently eliminate both sides of the switch by connecting the two circuits and turn of the vacuum by pulling the plur or putting a switch on the outlet. or

Go to Sears direct and pay the price fo a new switch.

Hi Jeremy,

You need a double pole or S2 switch rated at least for 240V / 20A.

It sounds like you're describingt a four way switch or S4. A quick check of the handle (if the traditional toggle type) can help you identify the switch; it should have "ON" and "OFF" indicated on it if it is an S2 and nothing at all if an S4. S4 switches almost always have four brass or gold colored screws while S2 switches nearly never have four brass or gold colored screws (not counting the green ground screw - of course).

One or more S4 switches are used between three way or S3 switches when 3, 4, 10, 20 or more switches are needed to control lights or other devices (typical usage to turn lights on and off at each floor to a stairway in multi-level buildings. These are typically 120 volt residential circuits in the U.S..

S2 switches are required when controlling two hot wire circuits that need both hot wires to be opened when shut off. These are typically 240 volt residential circuits in the U.S..

I hope this helps & good luck!

I need to buy a SPDT low voltage momentary contact toggle switch.

You want toggle switch that mimics operation of pushbutton, except you want SPDT.
For example doorbell button is a momentary SPST

For others finding this thread: Many people want double throw switch for 240V, thinking they have to turn off both hot legs of 240V circuit.
240v can be turned off by cutting power to one hot leg.

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like the toggle switch is going or gone, if the toggle switch is a circuit board you:ll have to replace the machine, check with any appliance repair outlet in your area.

Cooling fan is not coming on at all how do i wire it up to come on when car is started and stops when car is turned off

Here is a wiring diagram of how you should by-pass that cooling fan by using a toggle switch, and you can get a fuse holder and use a 30 amp fuse instead of a 30 amp circuit breaker, but you should use the circuit breaker since you are no longer using a relay, and if there is a voltage spike the circuit breaker will reset itself, and a fuse will blow out and you will have to change it. Most auto parts stores will carry the 30 amp toggle switch and circuit breaker, also be sure to use 10 ga. wire and do not forget the wire connectors that you will need to attach the wires to the toggle switch, the circuit breaker, and to the battery as well as the connection to the cooling fan wires.

This wiring diagram is very basic and you should be able to follow it with little difficulty, and you should also dis-connect the cooling fan at the wiring connector to the cooling fan and connect the by-pass wiring directly to the cooling fan motor so that you do not run voltage back through the stock system. Let me know if you require further assistance.

WEll, that is one idea, but I reccomend against it, as the brake light system is tied into the circuit, commonly. Just fix the t/s switch.

I have one too. Although it could be the mother board - if it runs its the potentiometer. You can get one from Iboats or Mie Reel Repair the number is AP16802. If its the mother board they are switching to digital. I havent had to go there yet. Tight lines to ya. From South Texas Riviera.

Multiple switches/multiple amplifiers

All the amps should be wired directly to the battery, with a toggle switch on each of them. most amplifiers have a SWITCH wire as well, shich is usually wired to your ACC wire on the stereo. instead, run each SWITCH wire to a positive wire through the toggle switch. If done right, you should be able to run each amp on a separate circuit and can turn them on or off as you wish.
