Convergence seems fine but waves run horizontal across entire screen. White-ish lines.

There is whats called a convergence IC that is going bad inside this TV set. There is only one for all three tubes and the IC number is STK 393-11- and can be purchased here http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/STK393-110.html You will only need to order one. If you are handy and can solder this should correct your problem. One very important thing is, before you reinstall the new convergence IC, make sure you use a good coating of heat sink compound on the back of the new IC. If you do not, the IC will fail within a short time frames. Only if you are good with a soldering gun should you attempt the repair. If you are not, this repair should run you about 300 bucks or so. Also if you are handy, there are seven capacitors that go bad inside a board called the DM board. These will go bad very soon so while your in there these should be changed as well. If you need info on how to change these capacitors, let me know and leave an e-mail and I will send you the pictorial on how this is done. the IC change you will need to find that, but I do have a service manual if you need one also to help you along if you can follow the schematic. Good Luck

Yes Rhonda, first you need to do a self test to show what is going on inside set. You can search threads on test or goto ctechnicians.com. This will put you in the ball park of what is going on.

You will need to replace the convergence amplifer chips and any related blown resistors, and perhaps two fuses.
Search this site for convergence fixes.

Do you have anything to test it in 1080i? Does it do it on all connections or just one? I had a similar problem with my TV that turned out to be a bad input board. Mine would only display 1080i through the Component connections. All others would show pink and green wavy lines. It cost me around 500 to fix it. Unplug the TV. Remove the back cover for the TV. Using a NON-metal object, or gloves, wiggle the input board (that has all the video connections on it) slowly back and forth and see if the problem comes and goes. You will have to have someone watching for you. If something is loose on that board, the problem should show itself. Narrowing down the problem will probably save you money on repair bills.
