SOURCE: Purge pump removal

By studying an exploded parts diagram found online, I determined that it snapped out the top before the bracket slid out the front.

SOURCE: Weedeater, 18cc, replaced fuel line & purge

You may have accidently hooked the lines to the purge button wrong. The purge button (primer button) should have a short stem and a long stem. The short stem is the suction side of the primer button and should be hooked up to the return on the carburetor. You actually s*uck gas through the carb and not from the tank. The carb should have two hook ups. If you hook the fuel line up to one of the lines on the carb and the button is hard to push and doesn't return to normal, hook the line up to the other one. When you push the primer button gas should be pulled through the carb. The other line on the carb goes back to the fuel tank.80a09a6.jpg

SOURCE: how to replace purge bulb

Once you are able to get to the four screws holding the primer bulb on, simply remove the screws, grab the bulb and pull off of carburetor. Take the metal sleeve off of old bulb and replace with the new one. Reverse procedure and GO CRAZY!

If I can help you any further, let me know.

Test the purge valve on a 36cc chain saw

Make sure the return line is going directly to the tank from the purge valve, the other goes to the carb. I see these two lines mixed up the most.

While filling up our 2000 Toyota Echo at the gas station the pump at the gas island keeps shutting off. Takes forever to fill the tank.

this is becoming a common problem, what is going on with your car is that as you fill the fuel tank you have to displace the air inside the tank( as the fuel goes in the air has to come out ) this is done by the purge system, as the fuel goes in the air is displaced threw a purge canaster the canster trapes any fuel vapers that are in the displaced air and as you are driving the car the vapors are burned by the engine, this canister is either pluged or the valve that opens and closes the canister is stuck so as you fill the tank the air can not get out so you get back pressure in the fill neck and this causes the pump to shut off, bottom line you need to have the purge system checked. it might be a bad canister or a bad switch could also be one of the hoses to the canaster, heres the bad news to replace almost anything on the system the fuel tank will have to be removed and that can be expenceve....sorry

Page 8 is the fuel system detail. Compared to most manufacturers’ this is a novel, a good one. Use it as a guide, it doesn't look to difficult. Take extensive notes and digital photo or two may pay huge dividends. HTH
