SOURCE: severe clogging

Try using long grain white rice works better than minute rise, if that does not help, then the burrs need to be replaced on grinder.

SOURCE: Why is the grind from my Breville BCG450XL in the

The Breville was designed to be used with Pressurized Portafilters, which most Home Espresso Machines have. These filters use a courser grind, so when it says Espresso on the Breville, it's really closer to Drip. The Turkish setting is barely fine enough for Espresso. There is a limiter on the Breville that prevents the user from going any finer, if you crack it open and remove the limiter, you can go as fine as the Solis. Becareful though, the burs can come so close to each other that they can chip and break.

SOURCE: I ground some nuts for

Hi.

The problem is not the motor.Coffee grinders must only be used with coffee. Even the beans used must be of quality suitable for the grinder. Too oily blends will result in a jammed grinder, as happened after grinding the nuts.

The repair is done disassembling the grinder, cleaning mechanics and reassembling. Unless you have disassembled a similar appliance before (eg. a blender gear box), there is a good chance that the attempt of fixing the grinder will result in more problems.

Rather than disassembling, a good alternative for the user is calling the Breville number listed on the grinder manual, and discussing repair with the manufacturer.

Regards.

Ginko.

SOURCE: My grinder does not grind anymore. The machine

im only guessing here but id assume that the space between the burrs is likely controlled with a spring or something which has probably broken leaving the burrs as far apart as possible, if you gut the machine you may just be able to fix it with no parts if its simply a spring thats come off, the only other possibility i can think of is that your burrs or whatever they connect to are broken somehow, but all these are only guesses as im not familiar with your machine, my motto is if its broken you may as well pull its guts out to see if you can fix it, youve nothing to lose and youd be surprised how often it works

I have a Breville BES860XL and the grinder is not working. If i overide the interlock, It will spin, but does not have enough power to grind beans

It seems there's a fault in the grinder gearing in this particular model. There's no solution but to take it to Breville repair...
I have the same problem and so does a friend of mine. The grinder will spin without beans in the hopper but as soon as beans are introduced the grinder makes a loud noise. Like the gears are slipping and there's not enough power to grind.

Whatever the setting is at the grind is always fine. What can I do to re-calibrate the grinder?

Grind Adjustment Tools required: Large blade and medium Phillips head screwdrivers In order to adjust the grind, follow these steps (Refer to figure A): 1. Remove all coffee from the hopper. 2. Set selector knob to the finest setting (Espresso or Turkish) depending on the model. 3. Loosen both knob retainer screws in selector knob one turn only. 4. While pressing the bag switch, located behind the spout, press the START button so that the grinder will run during adjustment. 810 model - Press the ON or START button so that the grinder will run during adjustment. 5. With the grinder still running, turn the adjusting screw in the center of the selector knob slowly to the right until a slight clicking noise is heard. Immediately turn the adjusting screw to the left one grind setting. This is the finest grind obtainable. 6. Tighten both of the knob retainer screws. Once the ESPRESSO grind has been set (Turkish for Model 835, 875, 890), the other grind settings will automatically set correctly. 7. Press the STOP or OFF button. IMPORTANT: Always be sure the grinding burrs are not touching while the machine is running on the ESPRESSO/TURKISH setting. Otherwise serious damage to the motor may result. dr_buckhead.png

Coffee grinder will not turn on

I recently had this same issue - it turned out that the lock switch no longer engaged because the spring came out of alignment after the unit was dropped. Chances are you have a similar issue. You can test this by using a small screwdriver to press down on the safely latch and then pressing the ON/OFF (careful of the blades!!). then you can easily fix it.

Breville Die Cast 800ESXL Espresso Machine: Problem... Watery espresso. My machine worked great for a year, then all the sudden, the espresso is watery and the basket where the grinds are is full of water...

Hi,

Personnaly, when I use the big filter, the grinds are dry after the extraction, but for the small filter, it's all soggy. If you look at the documentation, ( http://kitchen.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/breville/breville_coffeemaker_product_list.html) they say wet coffee grind after extraction is normal.
But did you change the coffee brand ? Or the grinding level ? How do you grind your coffee ? I had big troubbles once with a commercial grinder at my grocery store, it's when I decided to buy my own Breville grinder.

Good luck,

JF

Cannot get the grinding ring option to turn

This is a set screw. You need to take this out.
You can access this to either clean the burr
grinding wheel. Maybe this needs changed.
If you google the Kitchenaid A-9 Burr grinder you can get instructions to download on this machine.

Parts and Grind Selection

The current Kitchenaid A9 burr grinder glass jar is interchangable with the original Hobart/Kitchenaid A9 glass jar; therefor, the gasket should also interchange - contact Kitchenaid customer service to order a gasket.

Setting the grind is accomplished by grasping the body of the ginder in one hand and the grind-selector ring (collar that the jar screws into) in the other. Hold the base tight and turn the selector ring clockwise for a finer grind, counterclockwise for coarser. Be careful not to completely unscrew the selector ring; if you are not sure how much adjustment is left, screw it all the way clockwise until it stops (finest grind); then, back it off, up to one full turn to make the grind coarser.

The selector ring has the words coarse, medium and fine cast into it; these are rough postition markers. There is a triangle cast into the body of the grinder, just above the brand name, that can be used to diral in a preferred level of grind. I use a medium-coarse grind for drip coffee makers; to do likewise, position the selector ring so that the triangle is pointing midway between the words coarse and medium.
