I need help putting the bobbin threader back onto a Nelco JA38 sewing machine and the springs are giving me fits. Any help?

Not sure if you are having problems with the bobbin winder or threading the bobbin. This may help:

Nelco JA 38 Sewing Machine Threading Diagram

To avoid awful thread nests under the fabric, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread.

Interestingly, the bobbin threading instructions (above) show the bobbin loading into the bobbin case so it turns COUNTER-clockwise. This is the opposite of instructions for most machines. You can probably try both, the clockwise or Counter-clockwise,and see if one works better than the other.

Be sure to use fresh, good quality sewing machine oil or Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil on your machine. Open it up, while gently wiggling the handwheel, drop a couple drops of oil every place that metal rubs against metal. Avoid plastic or rubber parts! You may even find little round holes throughout that are oil ports. Be sure to get the area around the needlebar, presser foot lifter, feed dogs, the bobbin area, and all the dial and selector mechanisms.

You can find manuals for your machine online (not free!).

Machine won't stitch

If by "won't stitch" you mean that the top thread will not pick up the bottom thread, make sure you have the needle threaded properly. If the machine is a top loading bobbin, the thread goes in the needle from front to back. Same if it's a side loading bobbin (bobbin faces you as you sew). If it's a front loading bobbin (bobbin faces left of machine), the thread goes in the needle from left to right.

How to thread bobbin on de luxe 139 zig zag

Try look in utube on sewing machine threading, if you cannot get your model, opt for your equivalent front drop-in bobbin or top loading bobbin threading.

Brother 1100 threading the bobbin

try changing the needle
rethread the machine top and bobbin
make sure to use every thread guide
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up
lever--this can cause the sewing machine to jam
if it's a top loading bobbin--take the bobbin out of the bobbin case
and turn it around and reinsert the bobbin
if it's a side or front loading bobbin take the bobbin and bobbin
case out and make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the
bobbin case and that the bobbin case is inserted correctly into the
sewing machine.

Need to know how to thread and use bobbin in Elna 210 sewing machine

I can't see this manual available at the usual spots of:
www.sewingpartsonline.com
www.sewusa.com or
www.diplodocs.com
but you could email either of the first two websites and ask them.

If you look at the threading up diagram here,
http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Elna_Sewing_machine_threading/Elna_225_threading_diagram.htm
it may be sufficient info to get your machine running.

I'm presuming it is a front loading bobbin and case model? Many models are this style Singer, Jones/Brother, Toyota, Bernina, once you've mastered the bobbin case and bobbin, they are all very similar.
If it is a top loading bobbin style then look at the threading up diagrams for the Janomes, it may be more like them. These there is no removable case, you load the bobbin into the bobbin holder and click the thread into the tension spring.

The critical thing for threading up all sewing machines, is winding the bobbin nice and smoothly, getting it into the bobbin holder or case the right way and placing the thread tail into the tension spring correctly so the thread is under tension as it feeds out.
And for the top thread, it must go through the take up lever, tension dial (usually two metal discs that press together with a spring) and then down through the needle eye.
Always, thread up the top thread with the pressure foot up - this opens up the tension device.

Hope this helps out a little at least.

Just borrowed a friends machine but no instructions for threading cotton from top to needle and how to put in spool.Have got thread on spool.Just need to sew a basic hem

You haven't said what mail and model machine this relates to.

You could try http://sewing.about.com/od/sewingmachineindex/tp/operatingasewingmachine.htm, there is lots of good general information there which might be of help, most machines have similar functionality, ie a bobbbin goes into a rotary hook and there will be a tension spring on that thread. Top thread will also need to go through tension device, usually discs in the threading path from spool to needle.

There is usually a stitch length and stitch width dial/knob/digital selection and a stitch selector for different utility stitches such as blind hem, overcasting etc. If you just want a straight stitch, then stitch length would be 2.5 or 2.7 maybe for a heavy fabric.

You need to put in the correct sized needle for the fabric you at sewing too, http://sewing.about.com/od/sewingmachineindex/ig/Sewing-Machine-Needles/

Important thing is threading up so that both threads are under tension, make sure the pressure foot is raised during threading so the top thread can go between the tension discs. The bobbin will either be drop in top loading in which case you need to click the thread into a tension spring on the side of the bobbin holder. Or front loading bobbin inside a removeable bobbin case which is mounted vertically. The bobbin case will also have a tension spring on it.

Also you could try You-tube - there is lots of videos there for different brands.

I need to know how to thread my tcm sewing machine as i have no instructions as it was given to me thank you

I do not know this model but why don't you visit www.about.sewing.com, there is good general threading information there as well as care and maintenance tips for sewing machines. Older machines need oiling, many modern ones have nylon parts or oiling wicks so not required so often. If you can see red marks on parts of the machine, these are usually oiling spots.

sewing machines are usually horizontal top loading bobbins where the bobbin goes into a bobbin holder and the thread gets clicked into a tension spring.

Or vertical front loading bobbins inside a removable bobbin case with a tension spring on the outside of the bobbin case.

Top threading up is usually through a number of eyelets, through a tension device of some sort, then down to the needle.

Remember, the scarf (cut out) of the needle should face to the back of the machine. Most domestic sewing machines use 130/704H needle system and the needle has a flat shank which goes to the back in the needle holder so you get this right.

You can also try www.sewingpartsonline.com or www.sewusa.com, both list some instruction manuals and threading diagrams for some makes and models.

What is the reson of loose stich in below side of fabric

probably the thread coming from the bobbin is not under tension at all or insufficient tension, what is the machine brand, model and bobbin style, ie top loading drop in, front loading in seperate bobbin case?

Invariably stitching issues are caused by the machine not being threaded correctly, the bobbin being wound unevenly or bobbin tension issues.

Do you have a manual to check your threading up?

You may be able to find a threading diagram for it if you don't have a manual on www.sewing.about.com and this website also has lots of good general sewing machine threading advice and help.

I need instructions threading the bobbin on Kenmore sewing machi

I believe it is a seperate bobbin case, hold the open part of the bobbin case towards you with the finger at the top, hold the bobbin case by the latch, drop the bobbin in so it turns anti clockwise and pull the thread through the slot about 6 inches, keep hold of the latch, and pop the bobbin case in
