NEC FE2111sb multisync 21 inch monitor troubleshooting

My NEC FE2111sb multisync 21 inch monitor died last night. At first it just went orange (the light) and now it is flashing the light on my monitor. It was working fine yesterday and now it is doing this. What can I do to fix this?

Thanks!
Jeanna

I have the flashing green LED right now. It was never orange though. This happened the other day, but while flashing it just powered on. I've shut it off a few times since then, but when I came home an hour ago and I tried to turn it on, flashing green LED again.

I've looked at a few of the more technical support sites where people had the same problem. Sounds like a capacitor may be off by a few farads and will need to be replaced. As far as I know, caps aren't too expensive, but replacing one yourself would require finding the defective one, removing the solder and soldering the new one in place.

I'm going to call NEC tomorrow and see what they say. I don't want to give up this monitor. It's bulky and awkward, but better than about 90% of the LCDs I've used.

The symptoms you describe sound like the monitor is going into 'greeen mode' - that is to say, it sees no video signal present. first, try another monitor ti isolate and make sure the problem is the monitor. check the vga plug pins [especially if you have recently moved and/or disconnected and re-connected the monitor. ifnent, 'wiggle' the vga cable, as i have seen the actual cable fail frequently. if it is the monitir, vheck the solder connections on the neck boar [the circuit board that the crt plugs nto. if all looks well, and it is a component, such as a cap [and yes, they're cheap, and there's a wide tolerance in value- that is you can replace it with one as much as twice the value in microfarads, and just ake sure you use one with a voltage rating at least equal to, and better yet, exceeding the rating of tf the original. good luck

My NEC vt 595 was working fine last night and today i went to turn it on the status and power light started flashing red and orange and there is no picture

if Power is flashing orange - then it's cooling down

if Status is flashing red - then there are 4 flash combinations.
1 cycle (0.5sec On, 2.5sec Off) lamp cover or housing error
2 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) temperature error
4 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) fan(s) error
6 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) lamp error

Which is your condition?

My NEC MultiSync LCD1970NX monitor went black while in use and green power light is flashing.

If the system is booting up and if you see the "NUM LOCK" key lighting up in your keyboard then the system is working fine. The problem is with your graphic card. Check and repalce it. If not, the problem is with your monitor. Check the warranty and ask for a replacement.

Look for bad caps with bulging top in the power supply first, post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps (after about 2 years): http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

NEC MultiSync FE2111SB 22in monitor problem

a blinking green light usually indicates no video signal. check your cables, and if you have another computer, try it on that. otherwise, carefully check your vga signal cable, and the connections on the neck board [where the crt plugs into]
