Question about Maytag Ensignia MAV2757AWW Top Load Washer

Open Question

Washer won't spin or agitate

The washer will fill up but then just makes a soft ticking sound. Every few minutes it will hum and tick louder for about 10-15 seconds and then goes back to softly ticking. I've already replaced the transmission and pulley kit and the belt. I'm assuming it's the motor?

SOURCE: Maytag Washer PAV2300AWW

Your Thrust bearing on the bottom of the transmission is not releaseing the break. try turning the pulley with the belt off in the opposite direction this should free up your break. If it doesn't replace your brake ststor and rotor as well as your thrust bearing. This should solve your problem. Roger

SOURCE: Maytag Washer LAT9356AAE won't spin.

If the washer doesn't operate or make any noise when set on any cycle, or if it stops suddenly when it should continue onto the next cycle, it may not be receiving electrical power or, if the motor stopped mid-cycle, the machine's overload protector may have tripped. In this case, take out some of the articles to reduce the load and let the protector reset itself, then restart. Otherwise:

1) Be sure it is plugged in and turned on. If necessary, check the receptacle it's plugged into for power, using a working lamp, appliance, or voltage tester. Be sure the washer lid is closed completely.

2) If the receptacle seems dead, check the circuit breaker or fuse that serves that circuit.
3) Unplug the washer and check the power cord. If necessary, replace the cord.

4) Open the lid and check the lid switch and the tab on the lid that it pushes against. Press and release the switch: if it doesn't click when you do this, it's probably broken. If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repair service person.

5) If the washer still doesn't work, the controls may be faulty. Call a service person.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Burning smell + Screeching sound but Belt is not the cause, then WHAT is?

A lot of people may be searching for help with horrible sounds and burned belts for Maytag and Admiral washers only a few years old from Home Depot etc. They used a cheap pump that has a corrugated sheetmetal ring that holds the bearings. Well as it runs the vibration and friction cause it to slip down and grind on the pulley as well as not turn easily. If you put the washer on it's back and turn the small pulley and it turns with a gritty feel or you can actually see a loose metal collar type ring thing that looks like a cookie cutte; then you have a bad pump.

There is a small access panel on the back of the washer. Three screws and two spring clips on the hoses and you're done (use big pliers on the hoses). Put the belt back on (just push motor to one side, it's not tight), then check for leaks and reinstall the cover. VOILA! You can find the pump on ebay for $25 or your local GE parts dealers for $50.

SOURCE: Maytag Performa PAV2300AWW screaching noise, belt problem, pulley broke

My Maytag Performa was making the loud squealing noise. I changed out the water pump/bearing, took care of the problem.
Putting a new belt on just help burn up the bearing (they needed replacing) and probably ruined the new belt. Probably seized the water pump bearing and the belt jumped and broke the motor pully. A washing machine motor is very strong, when that h20 pump bearing seized (or possibly some bearings jamed up) the motor kept on turning that belt and the plastic pully gave in. You'll need to replace that also. If the h20 pumb bearing is turning freely, likely the bearings jammed up but or now loose. That bearing should be tight, no slack or play in it. You can probably wobble the pully on it all around while turning it. The slightest slack is too much.

Maytag Top Loader - Will not spin, Will not agitate, Does not drain. Motor does not make any noise.

You will need a multi-meter to be sure...the most direct method would be to check at the motor plug for 120V when the machine should be agitating or spinning. If there is no voltage present, its likely the timer, if there is voltage and not even a "hum" from the motor, replace the motor.

No agitation or spin and motor seems to make a loud "ticking"

This is usually caused by the motor coupler. This is very inexpensive and easy to replace. To watch a free video on how to check and replace this part go to www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru this. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for your specific model to get diagrams and illustrations.

Washer fills and spins but does not agitate

Im sorry to say, it sounds like the transmission in the washer may have gone out, the unit it self sits at the bottem of the main agitator shaft under the the tub, you may be able to have this replaced, but shop around for the right price.
