Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S4407 PC Notebook
I'm trying to turn off my touchpad on my Toshiba Sattelite A135 S4407 I am aware to use the FN F9 combination however even though when I touch the FN button the light shows up to show it's working, that combination does not work. The FN key does work with other F keys. I just want to turn off my touchpad so I can use my wireless without worrying about the mouse jumping to a different place in a sentence when I'm typing. What other suggestions do you have? I also don't have that transparent bar that usually would appear at the top of the screen when you point to it. It doesn't show up on mine.

Usually on the toshiba it is Fn and F2 or F4 the f key will have a coloured picture of an antenna with waves coming off of it.
Also most toshiba laptops have a physical switch on the edge of the case below the keyboard. Make sure that switch is on first then try the Fn and function key combo as they work together like a two way light switch. Both must be on for the card to be active.

Restore the defaults in the BIOS to begin with, this will make sure its not a setting in there that is disabling the mousepad.
Then in windows see if the touchpad is working. If not then take the keyboard out with the power turned off.
When you take the keyboard out you will see the ribbon cable that comes from underneath the touchpad. disconnect it from the motherboard and reseat it firmly back in. Then turn back on the motherboard and see if the mousepad works. If it still doesn't then try the shortcut key to enable it.
If it does't enable then that means its either going to be a mousepad problem where you would have to replace the top cover assembly or a motherboard problem cause it could be where the voltage required to run that mousepad is missing.

The touchpad is most probably defective. If you have dropped your laptop the touchpad cable could have get out from its connector on the mainboard. You can get a new touchpad/palmrest on ebay. You have to remove your touchpad/palmrest as shown in the link below, steps 17 to 19 :
Identify the part number of your touchpad/palmrest. Search on ebay.com : Toshiba Satelitte A105 palmrest. Buy the one with the same part numer as yours.
...or have your laptop repaired by a professional.
