Many are shipped with a protective sheet over just the keypad. Your owner's manual should address that if it needs to be removed upon delivery.

If not, then the keypad itself may be worn.

If it all works, and does not do come on or do anything by itself (which poses a fire hazard) then it may just be wear.

No action is necessary until some pads fail to activate or the oven comes on or does anything by itself. Then repair is necessary.

At that time post a new help request with the full model number from the tag on the oven (not the manual) and exact symptoms - what it's doing or not doing, and when.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

If it doesn't would suspect you have a problem with your control board.

We regularly repair these for customers nationwide with our guaranteed $39.95 service.

SOURCE: remove a door on a microwave

I wouldn't remove the door myself if I were you. If you just got the microwave, it should be under a return/replace policy, or a warranty. I would recommend returning the microwave and getting a sturdier one, as you don't know if the problem exists for all microwaves in that series, and most stores don't allow the replacement to be return/replaced.

SOURCE: Can I replace Keypad cover for Frigidaire microwave plmv168cc1.

Yes, the display can be replaced. You can order the part on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number as listed in your question and look under the "Control Panel" heading for item number 14. The part number is 5304429419. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: I have a Frigidaire Microwave oven CFMV156DBA. The

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

How to replace humidity sensor for samsung microwave oven?

I thought I needed a sensor also ( and you might), but first try this. Remove keypad. Find ribbon connector near lower edge, Gently slide a plastic ball point pen between the 2 ribbons to gently separate them. They may feel glued together. I then used a Q-Tip with a drop of alcohol to swab between the ribbons. Then cut a small piece of paper, cardboard or plastic and slide between the separated ribbons. Re-install keypad. Problem with mine was the keypad was basically shorted out. The ribbon connectors being stuck together caused multiple errors like child lock and daylight savings errors. Hope this helps someone.

Worth fixing 9 yr old unit? Told the keypad going bad. Often powered off/on to reset is required. Expensive repair?Complicated? I am quite handy if part swap is an option. I recall hearing a microwave is...

Hi - I really do not like to condemn any machine however microwaves have become very inexpensive - more efficient - quieter and packed with more features than ever before for a reasonable price. If you are handy unplug the unit and remove the front panel (a few screws ) at the keypad to expose the keypad harness, please check the harness connection. It is not uncommon for a keypad to fail. If the keypad still fails I advise purchasing a new machine simply because the parts, shipping etc will likely exceed the pro rated value of your machine. I know it is hard to let go sometimes but in the case of old microwaves it is generally wise. Microwaves can last well over 10 years. The good news is you will be getting a warranty with your new one should you decide to go in that direction. Hope its the harness, Sincerely Brian

Fan runs continuously and will not turn off. Model is XL1400 and is 10 yrs old.

Yes, we would want the entire control panel assembly - the plastic frame, keypad and circuit board. When you send it, please note on the repair form about the broken tabs. We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Microwave light bulb out

This is simple, and "FixYa" technical staff has clearly not looked at our model.

Take off the vent across the top (three long screws) to expose a single screw over the keypad.

Remove the single screw, and the whole keypad consile will lift up and off, likely hanging by a plastic tab/support on the bottom.

Now you can twist the light bulb plug to remove it from the support structure, change the bulb, and replace all that you've done.

Simple.

Microwave oven

Hi\
Well it moslikly the problem is a bad switch , there located insde the unit, it's posible the plastic made like lever that turns the switches on or off is jamed or broken.
To check them unplug the unit , open the cover, with an ohm meter check to see if they turn on or off. Basic electrician rull, most of them don't know this.
If all seem to be ok, double check, It's mostlikly 99% your problem , the other percentage is a bad board cause by a bad keypad or board, witch it's very small.

Regards
Bob
ps if it's the keypad or board like all other 99% of population tuss it out, keep in mind don't complain there to mutch air polution your also a cause of the problem.

My microwave computer seems to be possessed

E4 normally indicates a problem with either the keypad or a sensor. Since the oven is resetting, it may be the keypad or even the control circuit board. Below is my info on keypads, which may help, followed by more info: You may also have a bad keypad, which in many cases can be replaced. KEYPAD TROUBLE A bad keypad may be worn out due to age, damaged, or it may have gotten wet or otherwise contaminated. Moisture and contamination can be caused by not using the fan when boiling on the stove top (for over the range models), direct spraying of cleaners, by storing the microwave in an unheated garage or shed, or infestation. I warn my customers to never spray cleaner directly onto the microwave keypad, since the liquid can get inside and "lock up" or even ruin the keypad or controller. Apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) to a cloth (since paper towels can scratch) and gently wipe it off. I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics. DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING THE KEYPAD 1. The keypad connection is the green or blue translucent plastic strip that plugs into a connector near the edge of the control circuit board. 3. There are two tiny tabs (one on each side) on the hood of the connector that you can gently pull up on to unlock the connector. Use equal and gentle fingertip force when pulling up. 4. The old keypad strip will lift out. 5. Put the new keypad strip in, making sure both sides are down fully. (If you are not installing a new keypad, clean yours with a pencil eraser or a soft cloth and alcohol.) 6. While holding the strip down, push the connector hood back down to lock it. -- If your keypad (membrane switch) is bad, you should be able to get one here: http://www.samsungparts.com/search/search.asp If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk If you still have questions, please post again.
