Question about Gateway MX8710 PA6A COMPATIBLE LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 17 WXGA+ MATTE CCFL (22099231271)
Computer works fine ,replaced battery. However doesn't charge new battery .I've tried device manager fix on line repair idea's from people cant seem to get it to work
I have the same problem. I went into Bios (F2) to calibrate the battery. It gave me a flashing red warning that the battery was being overcharged. Looked at the battery, which is 11 volts. The laptop charges and powers on with 19 volts. I looked online for replacements batteries. Some were like mine - 11 volts. Others were over 14 volts. Look at the voltage of your old battery and see what is its voltage. Good luck.

There are 2 possibilities:
1. The internal charger does not work,
2. You received a defective battery (some after market batteries are very poor quality batteries).
