You can fix this yourself with a software upgrade - get the upgrade from Philips website - go to www.usasupport.philips.com, enter your model number, click on the verison of your model ending in /37, and click on "Software & Drivers"; click on the link that says "Firmware Upgrade - Software".
Instructions are on the same page - make sure you only transfer the .upg file, not the entire zip file to a portable memory stick.

Hi guys, I have the same model, and after reasing the manual a little closer and skimming the setup menu I've discovered that it's not actually a built in ambient light, it's actually a setting in the picture menu under "active control" that measures the ambient light in the room and adjusts the picture quality accordingly to ensure the best contrast and reduce glare/reflect imaging. Hope this helps....

probably you got a processing unit problem, which makes your tv stopping recognizing the screen information .
you should try resetting all factory default settings, if this doesn't work, you will have to take the TV to an assistance center .

Sounds like an issue with the power supply board. We will have to go component by component and you will need to knowledge of using a multimeter. If you are skilled enough to do this then let me know and I will help you troubleshoot it.

Your power supply board is not yet dead, You know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hope this will help in solving the problem....
