Vdo m5 bike computer has no speed reading . Cadence reading is fine. I replaced all new batteries. Just can't make it work, sometime display shows transport . Don't know what is that meaning ?

The computer goes into Transport Mode when it detects the bike is moving without the wheel moving (as on a car carrier) so that means the wheel sensor is not working. If you take a magnet and pass it right by the sensor several times and get no cadence count then the wire is broken or the cadence portion of the computer is non-functional. Unless it's the wire and you can fix it you need to buy a new computer.

Wireless bike computers are pretty self-explanatory. They consist of a main unit and sensor, which shall inform through radio signals instead of traditional cable transmitter.

Wireless computers are fairly easy to configure and install. An experienced mechanic can probably install a wireless computer to less than 5 minutes. A novice user can probably still make the task less than 10 minutes. However, the absence of the child in the models reduces the possibility of connecting the sensor to the roots, rocks, brush, etc. .. Suspension forks and create additional obstacles. With the corded models, a pilot should be concerned with changing the length of the fork. wireless sensors allow the holder free travel without worrying about the tight rope or hook.

When choosing a wireless computer, the set of cycling accessories, it is important to think about riding needs. Sigma BC 1609 Cadence Bicycle Speedometer reads my movement much slower than I am actually going. E.g. moving about 15, reads as 5 mph.

I had the same problem. It is caused because the mount is facing the wrong direction and your computer is swapping speed and cadence. 5 mph would mean 63 RPM of the wheel which probably what your pedal is actually doing. The wheel is actually turning at about 3 times that rate so if you check your cadence it is probably maxing out at 180 even though that wouldn't be possible.

To fix this, just twist your mount 180 degrees on your handlebars or stem and try again. That way the computer is correctly lined up with the mount.

Cadence does not register on edge 705

This is probably a pairing problem. Device and cadence should be paired. Pairing is often lost when changing battery.

Pairing the Edge 305 and sensors
Once you have installed the Garmin Edge 305 and the cadence sensor they need to be paired. As they communicate wirelessly with each other the Edge needs to connect to each sensor before it can receive input from it.

The initial pairing needs to be done away from other wireless systems this allows the Edge to pick up the sensors it is supposed to be monitoring. This is a little like black magic, but it seems to work quite easily.

The cadence sensor has a small press contact which puts the sensor into pairing mode. The HRM just seemed to connect by itself.

Subsequent pairing is much faster as the Edge 305 seems to remember which sensors it is paired with. If you have problems or need to change one of the sensors then you can use a setup feature to either turn the sensor off or to re-pair it.
