Sometimes there is a lot of lint build-up in the feed dog, it may want to move, but it can't because of the dust. Remove dust before you oil!

You need to be using a free motion foot or a darning foot, the regular presser foot is not for free motion.

Is it possible that you've lowered the feed dogs and not raised them again? Is the stitch length dial set to 2.5 and not on a buttonhole blue setting or the Automatic "A" setting?

I only have a small amount of feed through the sewing claw, i mostly have to pull it through on my Toyota 2400, is this normal is is something wrong?

Unable to locate much information about your make/model machine.

If your machine has the capability of dropping the feed dogs for darning or free motion quilting, check that the feed dogs are in the up position for sewing. Also, verify that the stitch length is set to at least #2. Any shorter stitch selection will cause the machine to advance the fabric so slightly that it will nearly sew in place.

Some machines also have a pressure adjustment for the presser foot. If the fabric you are sewing is very fine, the feed dogs may have difficulty gripping the fabric to advance it through the machine. You can add body to the fabric by including a stabilizer when sewing the fabric, ie a wash-away stabilizer.

How do you change the stitch density?

How close the stitches are to each other? Stitch length?

There is a stitch length selector on your sewing machine. The owner's manual is the best source for information. Technically, the stitch length selector increases the movement of the feed dogs. The feed dogs pull the fabric under the presser foot. Increase the stitch length, the feed dogs increase movement and pull the fabric through faster.

Keep decorative stitch consistant

Be very careful to not push or pull at the fabric, and instead just guide the fabric without force and let the machine have control of the feed.

Thread pulling fabric through feed dogs

Usually when that happens you have the wrong needle plate on for the fabric. Now if you don't have an extra needle plate.... try floating a piece of tissue paper or tear away stabilizer between the fabric and the feed dogs. When the seam is finished just tear away the paper or stabilizer.

Another thing sometimes the problem lies in not having a long enough stitch for the fabric.

My new janome 2212 isn't feeding my fabric

ok. Never pull fabric, it will bend the needle and cause you even more problem. So stop doing that.

Look in your manual for where the feed dog switch is. It might be under the "darning" area.

Good luck

My presser foot lever is not working on my toyota rs2000 sewing machine

How do you mean 'not working'? Is it not lifting the presser foot? Not putting it down? Fabric not feeding? There are several possible problems depending upon exactly how it is (mis) behaving.

Hi the pressure foot in my toyota RS2000 does not move when i try to sew. What could be the problem

check the feed dogs that are under the needle plate to see if there up or down,, if they are up you can feel them when you slide your finger over them,, only if there up can the machine sew,

the pressure foot holds the fabric against the feed dogs & the feed dogs move the fabric

Why does the backing gather up even though it is penned and sprayed with quilting spray

Presser foot tension is to low for the weight/finish of the fabric, or bottom dogs are worn.
  • The feed dog feeds the fabric under the presser foot while you guide the fabric.

  • The feed dog regulates the stitch length by how much fabric passes under the presser foot as the machine stitches.

  • It is important for you to not push and pull the fabric under the presser foot. Allow the feed dog to move the fabric, so that you do not bend and break sewing machine needles.
Hope this helps.

Feed dogs are not pulling the material back

White sewing machine model 510, feed dog problem; fabric is not moving; I must firmly pull fabric through.

The feed dog is moving; fabric is not.

The fabric is not feeding properly; the fabric goes back and forth. However, the fabric does not continue to move away from me.

The feed dog is positioned up and is not smooth, it feels rough when I touch it with my fingers.

Because I had not used this sewing machine for a couple of years, before sewing, I cleaned the inside with the wire brush that came with the machine.

In an attempt to trouble shoot the problem, I applied varying pressure foot levels and stitch lengths.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem?
