open your my computer, click on "c" the system will tell you the information is hidden, click on the link and open up the operating system and look in the drivers or there in C and se if you can find you web cam driver, when you find it you might have to force the opening of the driver to install, and once you do that plug your web cam in and see if the system see's it and installs the drivers for the cam, if you installed the driver origanally witht he web cam installed you will have to remove the web cam and unistall the driver and re install it and then plug the web cam back in, and that should help correct the problem.

I have the exact same problem. However I don't think the problem is
the oper. system. The computer shuts down at random; many times it
won't even boot. I originally thought maybe their was a loose ram
stick, so i tried replacing it and had no luck. Then I tried removing
the hdd and tried to get into the BIOS, but it still sometimes would
shut off; meaning that the o/s can't be the problem.
It still works sometimes, but other times just shuts off or
won't make it past the initial boot screen. I'm thinking it has to be
a problem with something in the power supply. It's seems like the
power just completely cuts off, i've never seen anything like it.

Just call Dell, don't take it back to Best Buy or anything (that's where I got my Inspiron 1565). They will put you through a couple troubleshooting items and decide whether it's the AC adapter went bad or if they have to replace your motherboard. It's all free since they have a 1yr hardware warranty.
