My Canon MP470 was working fine, but then it sat for a few months without being used. I put in some new ink cartridges and tried to use it, but it keeps giving me a paper tray error. Telling me to loa

No. There are not normally rubber bands in printers. There may be a rubber belt but they are a little more difficult to remove than just falling out. They normally have a tread on the inside of the belt and a smooth exterior.

As for paper tray errors. If it is not picking up that there is paper in the tray then there may be something else stuck in the paper feed system.

Duplex tray is broken. Where can I order one?

You can purchase it from Brother and the part number is LJ7661001
DX FEED ASSY. The small "wheels" can also be purchased if you don't want to buy the whole unit, but I am not sure which ones you are talking about as there are several in the unit. The printer may print fine as long as you don't print Duplex.

check the tray for a special piece of plastic that, when rotated or adjusted some other way, confirms the tray is holding what paper size and orientation. I know HP used this on older lasers.

Envelope printing

Got a 3100CN and had the same problem but found that a) Changing paper size from the web doesn't work but b) Go to the printer control panel on the printer and use the menu to set the paper size for the MPF tray for FREE. Now your application under windows will overide the whatever the printer thinks and will print. Envelope via Word all work without problem. Suggestion . Configure two printers one B&W using tray one and one colour using MPF and you can now quickly select whether to use colour or b&w. Regards John N - N2UYI/G7LTQ
