SOURCE: LG WM2487 front load washer spews suds out of port on rear.

You are likely using too much detergent or the detergent is not high-efficiency detergent. Change detergents and/or lower amount and this problem should go away.

The water port on the back allows air inside the tub to escape. However, if the wrong type or quantity of detergent are used, excess suds will flow from this port.

SOURCE: I've got a leak in

Yes, I've had this and had to replace the valve assembly, fairly easily fixed once you get the part, and after you discover that the top of the Washer comes off by unscrewing and removing the screws and hinges at the rear top of the Washer and then sliding the top back, away from the front (I had to jar it fairly hard). I hope this helps.

Maytag Atlantis Model Number MAV9501EWW has problem filling with cold water. I have switched the hoses and can fill with cold water through the hot water valve.

Hi.

Test and eventually replace the inlet valve.

The inlet valve is tested reading impedance, if it is broken, then it usually read infinity (circuit open). Reaing is done disconnecting valve and pointing multimeter probes at valve solenoid contacts (the cold ones in your case).
A definitive test on inlet valve is done reading volts while cycling and observing if valve is opening. For safety reasons is better if the user performs only tests that can be done with power off.
The switching contacts and inlets is also a test even if basic, I think that the valve is gone.

Here part:

Series 21 models: sub 22004333 (water inlet valve)

Series 12 models:VALVE-INLET

Valve is part nr.2 in diagram below. Click on the picture to enlarge.

If you repute this solution helpful, then please do not forget to accept.

Best regards.

Ginko.

Cold water starts and stops during fill and rinse cycle

This problem is commonly caused by a water inlet valve (also known as a mixing valve) that has a defective cold water solenoid. If you live in an area that has hard water, or if you use well water, sediment, rust or calcified deposits can accumulate in the inlet valve and cause it not to close properly. Usually when they start leaking, or not functioning at all, you need to replace them. The following link explains how to access and replace the valve:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575881-replacing_water_inlet_valve_on_whirlpool

If the model number is correct, the part number for a replacement valve is 285805. Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

My whirlpool duet washer will not use cold water for the wash cycle. I put it on cold and only the hot water is taken into the machine. I know the cold water works, because it is attached to my steam dryer...

This problem is commonly caused by a bad solenoid on the water inlet valve. The valve will have to be replaced to correct the problem.

Warm cold water trickles in to fill the washer. Hot is not affected. Is this an issue with the temperature sensor?

The problem is with the water inlet valve (also known as a mixing valve on some model washers). The valve has separate solenoids that turn on with the selection of the water temperature you use. One is for hot, one is for cold. You may have a hot water solenoid that isn't shutting off completely and stays on with your cold water selection. When mixed with the cold water, this will make the water warm. You can easily replace the valve to correct your problem. The following link explains step-by-step how to replace an inlet valve:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575881-replacing_water_inlet_valve_on_whirlpool

This is a very simple and inexpensive repair. If the model number is correct, the part number for a replacement valve is 285805. Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need. The valve is listed as item 18 under the "Controls and Rear Panel" heading. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part number from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. The valve is often sold as part of their in-store inventory. The average price is about $20.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

How do you locate cold water relay

There is no cold water relay. There is a water inlet valve with a cold water solenoid on it, though. If you have no cold water, any of the following could be a cause:

1. Clogged sediment screen on the cold water inlet. You will need to shut off the water and remove the fill hose from the back of the washer and check the inlet screen on the cold water inlet on the back of the washer. Clean if necesssary. NOTE: This can be a common problem if you have hard water or use well water. Cleaning with a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and water using cotton swabs can dissolve most accumulations of rust and sediment.

2. Poor electrical connection on the cold water solenoid on the inlet valve. Locate the electrical connection for the cold water solenoid (usually color coded BLUE for cold water, RED for hot water) and unplug. Check the electrical contacts for any signs of corrosion. Clean the contacts if necessary.

3. Bad cold water solenoid. With the electrical connection removed and the washer unplugged, take a resistance reading on the solenoid contacts. They should read something around 600-800 ohms if good. If bad, you will need to replace the water inlet valve.

4. Kinked or clogged fill hose.

NOTE: Make sure you UNPLUG the washer before servicing.

If you determine the water inlet valve to be defective, the following link explains how to access and/or replace:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r600647-replacing_water_inlet_valve_kenmore

The part number for the inlet valve is 285805 and can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

Prices will vary between these sites, so shop all of them for the best price.

If you need a diagram to assist you, the first three websites mentioned usually have excellent exploded view illustrations that accompany their parts lists. You can use these as a helpful reference. The water inlet valve is listed as item 18 under the "Control and Rear Panel Parts" heading.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool, and use Whirlpool parts, so these instructions will apply.

I have an LG washing machine model WF-T755A After washing completed, if water not turned off at taps, the unit slowly fills up with water. The last time causing it to overflow and flood the floor

Water inlet valve is not sealing off 100%. Replace inlet valve (the part where the hose attached to the machine). didn't find that exact model listed so couldn't give you a part number. Usually LG's have a separate valve for the cold and the hot. If you turn off one valve where hoses connect to household plumbing you should be able to figure out if it is the hot or cold. (most often it is the cold) Leave both valves off when not using washer until fixed. (note: usually on LG washers, if you have unit connected to power and the door closed, if it fills with water as your machine did, the water level switch will trip and automatically pump the water out, even if washer is not in use and the power is "off".)
