Question about Vizio M550NV 55 in LCD HDTV
The picture is mostly red and slow moving. The picture is completely distorted. Even when I select menu, you can only see it very faintly in the background. I've unplugged the unit and gone thru the steps of holding the power button while unplugged. Nothing helps. It seems to be getting worse. The LED lights are showing thru the holes on the back at the top of the TV. This just started today with a blank screen and sound then the picture slowly started showing up completely distorted. It first had vertical lines then those went away leaving a weird slowing moving picture. This TV is only 2 years old and I bought it new.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: No Sound, No Picture
I had the same issue on my Vizio and fortunately it was still covered by the Costco extended warranty from where I purchased my tv. The service tech came out yesterday with a power supply and main board which is what I understand is usually the issue with your and my symptoms. He replaced both boards although he felt the issue was in the main board 3647-0072-0150 and not the power supply. Tv is working just fine now and actually may be even a little clearer after the board switch. I understand you can purchase the boards and from what I've seen the tech do, it is no more difficult to replace than if you were building a computer if you are comfortable with that. The most time consuming part of the repair was removing and replacing the screws.

may be a mainboard problem. If you can see the orange light it usualy means that there is power running through the TV... usually inverter boards are a problem when you do not see any backlight at all.

you need to call a repair tech and have them check for blown capacitors in the power supply and the x & y sus (the circuits that light up your screen) for defective capacitors. they are very obvious to see-normally the top a a capacitor is flat, but in this case if bad they will be bowed out -rounded on the top.
