I had the same problem. My K5 just wouldn't start up in the morning. I pushed the reset button on the underside of the player (between the player and the speakers) and it started right up again with my songs intact.

My samsung K5 says fully charged when plugged into computer. When I try to turn it on, nothing happens. I tried turning iut on with teh speakers open and sometimes i hear a crackling sound. I've read other fix it things and pushed the rest button but nothing changes. No turn on and still occasional crackling from speakers.

When you deinstall the driver for the k5 in the hardware manager and then reconnect the k5 with your pc, he will charge. When he is charged you can turn him on. Sometime he shows that he is fully charged but this doesnt matter he charge and charge and charge... after that you can turn him on the usually way. This must be a MTP driver problem. No better solution found
sorry for my bad english, hope that will work and help a few people.

I had a different problem before... mine turned on, but lagged with the "Samsung" logo for more than 5 minutes. Then I pushed the Reset button at the back, and it turned off. When I tried to open it again, it just lagged once more. I then realized that I recently put a playlist I made with Windows Media Player, which turned out to make it NOT work (and probably caused the lag for some reason), so I deleted the playlist, and it wwnt back to normal again. What a relief.

I just shared this for future uses. xD

Thank you so much! mine worked fine one day and was dead the next. i thought the reset didn't work, but once i plugged it in to charge afterwards it came on fine!

My samsung does this all the time. Randomly it just turns off. But everytime I press the reset button its back to normal. The only thing it resets is the time on the player. It doesnt delete the songs.

Ive had mine for about a year and a half and I pressed the reset button so much that I think I broke it.

Now sadly it got water damaged so the screen doesn't work but the touch buttons do.

I had this problem also ( at it all started after a firmware upgrade)..Samsung made a big mistake, but as always, they know nothing.

I let somebody put the firmware on it again (didn't help) and after that I just was toying with it ( take it off the cable, reset, put it on again / reset while charging or connected to PC ) When doing these (useless?) things with it and after being on the cable for a few hours, it suddenly WORKED again.. ( still little errors, for example it sometimes it says fully charged, while still being empty)....

So my advice (If u cannot return it to samsung, as in my case) would be just to mess around with it en hopefully it will work for you also..

Good luck!! ( i hate samsung, but love the K5...)
BTW NEVER BUY THE S5 (succesor) it sucks! only the P2 is cool...

I replaced my battery this week on my 99 Yukon. Truck started fine for several days. Now it won't turn over, at all. All the equipment inside works, so the battery is not dead - it just wont ever try...

Check for power at the small wire at the starter with the key inthe crank position. If there is power than the starter is bad or the connections at the battery are not good. If there is no power put the trans in neutral and check for power again. If there is still no power let me know and I will get you some more info on trouble shooting the ignition switch and the PRNDL switch.

The mp3 player wont charge. plug into computer and it shows charging but as soon as it is disconnected it shuts off and wont turn on.

Some mp3's don't expressly charge on the computer, that why when you connect it, the computer only sees it as a flash but is not actually charging it all this while and the battery is completely down. So try and get an external charger for it, the battery may be completely dead.Or probably you need to change the battery. Hope that puts a smile on your face.

Samsung K5 trouble shooting

Just a question, is there a button that has to be in a certain position while charging? I had a similar problem with my daughters ipod of a different company. I am not sure if this will help or not. I hope it does.

Won`t charge

I had the same problem. First disconnect the mp3 player from your computer. Then go into the control panel, select the system icon, go to the device manager tab, and then find the Samsung K5 driver. Right click on it and select uninstall. Now reconnect your mp3 player. That should do the trick. Somehow the driver file got corrupted and wasn't letting the k5 charge.

Broke

before i had the same problem, when i thought my k5 runs out of battery i plug it in to charge, but it said charge complete and when i unplug it, it still wont turn on. but then i tried switching to a different usb plug on my computer and it worked. so i guess the problem is that some of your usb slot on your computer isnt working properly, try using a different slot.
