Standard top bin full remove all paper from bin

there are four black plastic finger type actuators protruding from the exit rollers ( in the catch tray) these help push the paper down after exit from printer - in some cases where damp paper is common the curl generated by the fuser heat is enough to trip these \'Fingers\' into the position where the printer thinks the output tray is full to capacity

do you ntoice when the paper leaves the machine if there is any curling in the paper if this is the case open a new ream of fresh paper and try again

also the output tray full sensor is probably covered in dust/paper debris- removing the top cover will reveal the position of the sensor connected to the actuator arms clean and dust this to cure error ( assuming theres no damp paper)

I have a Canon imageclass D880 multifunction, error"Paper Jam, slide platen..." I can see the paper deep within the machine ( fuser?) but cannot get to it to get it out.

Hi marcbachm177,

Please follow the steps below on how to remove paper jams inside printers in hard-to-reach places, a pair of medical forceps is often useful.

1. Take off 3 plastic covers one above exit area-slide top to left to access screw. Remove lower exit cover and side cover -unsnaps with 2 pins and there is one more cover I think over the fan that needs to come off.

2.Locate black plastic sheet covering a circuit board carefully pull this back-disconnect 3 plastic connectors that lead from the heater to the circuit board.

3. Using a offset phillips #2 screwdriver remove 3 screws that hold the fuser to the frame.

4. Carefully lift fuser up and out toward the exit area.

5. Pop off black cover remove 2 screws from top of fuser, disengage cover lid locks with a small screwdriver, lift upper fuser heater - be careful NOT to damage plastic heater membrane. remove paper jam and reassemble.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a message "remove paper from standard

I have seen the flag sensor (white part dangling on the left side by where the paper exits the printer) pops loose from the frame. If you can wiggle it, it has popped loose. If this is the case, you can open the left side cover and remove the redrive cap (long plastic piece above where paper exits) to gain easier access to this. If you have more questions about this sensor, feel free to request more info.

Error: open upper cover exit jam

Feed Jam or Exit Jam ecblank.gif ecblank.gif dot.gif ecblank.gif 1. Remove the tray and clear any misfed sheets as given above.

2. Open the top cover.

WARNING! The fuser area will be hot. This area is clearly marked. Do not touch it.

CAUTION! Never expose the image drum unit to light for more than 5 minutes. Never expose the image drum unit to direct sunlight. Always hold the image drum unit by the ends or from the top. Never touch the surface of the green drum inside the image drum unit.
3. Carefully lift out the image drum, complete with the toner cartridge. Be careful not to touch or scratch the green drum surface.

4. Remove any jammed sheets from the paper path.

5. Re-install the image drum complete with toner cartridge, ensuring that it correctly locates into the slots on each side of the printer.

6. Close the top cover and press down to latch it closed.

7. The printer will warm up and commence printing when ready. he page lost through the jam will normally be reprinted.

NOTE If the edge of the jammed paper protrudes (or can be seen) from the exit, reinstall the image drum, close the top cover and switch the printer on. Remove the jammed paper from the exit when the exit roller begins rotating after a few seconds after switching on. However, if the jammed paper cannot be removed, contact a service representative.

My xerox workcenter 416s has the following error: close offset cover. What is this??

There is a small cover where your paper exits into the tray. It probably is just ajar and not actuating the switch. Check in the area above the right side where you would clear a jam and where the already made copy comes out. Something there is not closed all the way, or the interlock switch has popped out.

Close Exit Cover to Continue error message won't go away

sounds to me like one of two things has happened.
More than likely the actuator tab on the cover snapped off,
Look for an opening around the edge of the cover , there is a cover interlock switch in there. Note its position and look at the cover to verify there is a tab on the cover to actuate the switch, Or you may have a loose connector on the interlock switch, or a bad switch, although I have never seen one of those switches go bad.

That is an exit Jam code in the fuser.
You may just have one of the fingers bent straight down blocking the paper.
There also may be a secondary code that is causing the E-4-0.
But that is where to start. Look under the exit web cover for a piece of paper crumpled in that area.
Once there you may have to remove the fiser web cover to remove that jam and straighten out the finger.
MAKE SURE IF YOU GO INTO THAT AREA TO UNPLUG THE MACHINE.
